Noah snorted, and a guilty look crossed Jessa’s face.

“Okay, so sue me. But now he knows.”

“Since Jeff is one of my best friends, I can honestly say you should just tell him. He has a thing for you too,” Noah said.

Butterflies filled Megan’s stomach at the thought. “But how would it work? I already have all my travel plans laid out until December.”

“So cancel them,” Jessa shrugged. “Would you lose a bunch of money?”

“Some, yes. But Brian also called me when I was at the airport. He needs me to come to Arizona for a few months to help with the new hires,” Megan said.

“That’s weird. He didn’t ask me,” Jessa said.

“Probably because you live here now. He knows I still travel around. And they only needed one of us.”

“And because he has a thing for you.”

Megan sighed. “No, he doesn’t. You’re imagining that.”

Jessa raised a brow. “No. I’m really not.”

“Okay, back to Jeff, ladies,” Noah said. “You two could do long distance for a bit.”

Jessa nodded in agreement. “Yeah. It wouldn’t be for forever. It would also allow the two of you to get to know each other before you decide if you want to move here. Although moving here shouldn’t depend on a guy, anyway.”

Megan tilted her head. “I’m pretty sure Noah was the sway you needed to put down roots.”

“Nah.”

“Hey!” Noah said.

Jessa patted his cheek. “He was a huge bonus, though.”

“I think you need to tell Jeff how you feel before you leave town,” Noah said.

“But I leave in the morning, and it’s nearly midnight,” Megan said. “I’m going to look crazy if I show up at his place this late.”

“And you’re going to regret it if you don’t,” Jessa said.

Megan knew she was right. She flew all the way to Wintervale just to see Jeff and to see if her feelings were real. Going out with him, even if he didn’t realize her intentions, gave her clarity. She liked him… a lot. And she wasn’t ready to leave town without him knowing.

Megan slid off the bed. “You’re right. Let’s go.”

Jessa gestured at Megan’s pajamas. “Maybe you should change first.”

Megan looked down at herself before nodding and picking up the outfit she had been wearing earlier. “Okay, out of my room so I can change. Then I need someone to drive me to Jeff’s.”

Jeff clickedoff his TV and walked toward the back of his house when his doorbell rang. He furrowed his brow and walked to the front door, looking through the peephole to see Megan on the other side. His eyes widened.

He quickly pulled the door open as his heart thundered in his chest. “Hey, Megan. What are you doing here?”

She wrung her hands nervously in front of her. “Mind if I come in?”

He opened the door wider, and she stepped past him. Once he locked the door, he held his hand out toward his living room. “Please have a seat. Are you okay?”

“I tricked you,” she said quickly as they walked toward the couch and took a seat.

He frowned, not knowing what she could be referring to. “Um… okay?”
