Deja vu sweeps through me, but this time I know why. I’ve been here before. I’ve been in these arms, and I’ve been kissed by these lips, and the urge to have them on mine again is overwhelming, but Mac waits.

“Mac,” I say, his name a whisper, and it must have been what he needed to hear because he closes the space between us.

When his lips find mine, that same insatiable hunger flows through my blood and my bones. He kisses me like I’m the exact thing he’s been craving all his life. It’s a kiss to end all kisses, and I know if I said the word I could have this whenever I wanted.

And I will. I’ll say whatever it takes to make Mac mine. If it takes a thousand apologies, I’ll say them all.

He moves, but I have no sense of where I am until my back is pressed against the shelves. I had no idea I wanted to be pressed against books and kissed like this until Mac did it, but now I’m not sure I want to have it any other way.

He pulls away for a moment, both of us breathing like we’ve run up the stairs. My lips are tingling. I can’t tell if we kissed for one second or an entire lifetime, but I want more. I dig my fingers into his back and pull, but instead of his lips landing on mine, they land on my jaw. They just brush against my skin, and when his mouth travels down my neck I groan in his ear, little fires blooming all over my body.

His hand travels down my side, over my hip, and along my thigh. He hitches my leg up around his hip, and when he grips my ass to pull me against him I forget how to breathe for a second.

“God, Mac, we’re in a library.”

I do nothing to discourage him, though. I explore him with my hands, eventually winding my fingers through his hair, holding his mouth against my skin.

“Agree to be my girlfriend and I’ll stop,” he says against my neck. His breath tickles my neck where his lips just kissed.

I go still.

Girlfriend.

Do I want that?

Yes. More than anything.

“And if I don’t want you to stop?”

Mac pulls back enough to meet my gaze. “Is that a yes?”

The corners of my lips lift into a smile. “Yes.”

And then he kisses me again. Library be damned.

EPILOGUE

JESSIE

Four months later…

I clear my throat and glance around, hoping I haven’t disturbed anyone in the library. It’s a Friday night, so there aren’t a ton of people here, but it seems like everyone who is here has headphones in and my noise doesn’t seem to have bothered anyone.

I shift in my seat and lean on my hand, staring at the textbook in front of me. I need a break soon as the words are all starting to blur together.

Fingers brush against my neck, moving my hair back, startling me, but when I smell citrus and that clean detergent scent I relax. Lips brush my neck where his fingers just danced across my skin, and I shiver.

“Mac, we’re in a library,” I whisper as the tension in my shoulders eases. I tilt my head to the side as he places slow, firm kisses along my neck.

“Then don’t make any noise,” he mumbles, his lips hovering just over my jaw.

I bite my lip and close my eyes, savoring the moment. His tongue slides over the skin of my neck and I grip my textbook. I should definitely make him stop, but I can’t seem to bring myself to say the words.

Someone clears their throat. My eyes snap open, and both Mac and I turn toward the sound.

Daisy gives us a look from behind the main library desk. “Get a room,” she says in an exaggerated whisper, and my cheeks burn.

“Should we?” Mac smirks, taking a seat across the table from me.
