“I figured as much. Has she gotten sick before?” I asked.

“She had an ear infection when she was younger. Any other time she had a fever, it was because a tooth was coming in. Aslong as the fever stays down and she’s back to her normal self, we won’t worry. If not, I’ll call her doctor.”

“Okay.”

I was worried about Paris, but London assured me she would be okay. She knew better than I did, so I had to take her word for it.

“I wonder when this rain is going to let up,” London said after a few minutes.

“I think it’s supposed to rain all day.”

She yawned and stretched. The television was on some movie that was so stupid but interesting.

“Good. I don’t want to go outside anyway.”

“Who said we had to?” I looked down at her and asked. I wasn’t in the mood to go outside either, so I was content with staying on the couch all day. As long as I got to spend time with her and Paris, I was good.

“Nobody.” She giggled. “What excites you the most about being in a relationship?”

I thought about her question for a second.

“This.”

“Elaborate, Genesis.”

I rubbed my hand over her butt when she put her legs on the couch and tucked them behind her as she lay against me. The position she was in made the bottom of her butt cheeks show since her shorts were so short.

“Having these peaceful moments with you. Being able to talk to you about my day and listening to you talk about yours. Being able to hug and kiss on you.” I kissed her shoulder. “And fucking you, of course,” I teased. “I just like being in your space. What about you?”

She maneuvered so she was looking up at me. Her hand found its way to the side of my face, and I closed my eyes for a second.

“The same, to be real. For so long I had been single that sometimes I forgot what it was like. I like feeling like we are building a solid friendship that could lead to a relationship. I feel like you would protect me, and not just physically. I feel like you would protect my heart as well.”

“There’s no doubt in my mind that I would,” I told her. “And I think we are building toward something special as well.” This time, I leaned down and kissed her lips.

The kiss ended up getting passionate, and the next thing I knew, I had London pinned to the couch while I ate her pussy. We had to take advantage of Paris sleeping, and I wasn’t one to blow my opportunities.

It had beena while since I hung out with my friends, so Paris and I went to lunch with them. I caught them up on how things had progressed between Genesis and me.

Genesis was a piece to the puzzle that I didn’t realize I was missing until he came around. The minute he learned of Paris, he stepped up and showed up for both of us.

Before I could pick my fork up, my phone rang. I didn’t have to look at the screen to know it was Genesis calling.

“Hello.”

“Hey. I was in the neighborhood, and I wanted to see if you or my princess needed anything.”

Heat spread through my body from the sound of his voice. No matter what I felt about the kid thing, Genesis did something to me every time we talked or I was in his presence.

“No. We are out right now with Hannah and Torryn.”

“Oh, okay. Can you possibly let me see you and talk to Paris for a second?”

“Sure.” I pressed the button to change it to a video call, and I blushed when Genesis’s face filled my screen.

Genesis licked his lips when his eyes landed on me. “You look beautiful.”

Paris looked up when she heard her father’s voice. She dropped the banana onto the table and reached for the phone.
