“That’s my fucking baby mother you talking about.”

“So fucking what? Nigga, you married.”

I shook my head. “Stay the fuck away from my baby mother. You not ‘bout to be my son stepdaddy.”

“I see how it is, Ahk. You ain’t trying to keep it in the family.” He laughed on his way out of my office.

I got to signing the contracts, and a little while later, there was a knock on the door, and Brooke came in with Saphir.

“Daddy!”

“What’s up, boy?” I lifted him onto my hip before dropping a kiss onto his forehead.

“I missed you. Where’s Jazzy?”

I chuckled. “Jazzy’s at her store working. We can stop by in a little.” His eyes lit up with excitement.

I sat him down before finally addressing Brooke. “What’s good?”

She rolled her eyes before handing me Saphir’s school bag. “He has soccer this week. Also, can you tell your girlfriend to stick to the bedtime I set for him? He always has a hard time adjusting when he gets back home. She doesn’t have kids, so I can’t expect her to know anything about structure.”

“My wife,” I corrected her. “She does stick to the bedtime, Brooke. It really be me that be staying up with him. She’s a good stepmom, and our son loves her.”

“I couldn’t care less. Just make suremykid is in bed by nine PM.”

I smacked my lips. She was steady on bullshit. “Whatever I do with my son while he with me don’t fucking concern you. He’s happy, healthy, and well taken care of. Me and my wife on one accord, and that’s all that matters.”

“You think I give a damn about you and your wife?” She rolled her neck.

I set my son down. It was sad to admit, but he’d gotten used to us arguing in front of him. We could have been better, but I knew for a fact that I was trying to be better. Brooke was on the same bullshit year after year.

“Blue, go out there with Mirsad and have him get you something form the vending machine.” I pulled some money from my pocket and handed it to him.

He knew exactly what was about to go down, so he took the money and slipped out of the office. Once the door shut behind him, my eyes narrowed at Brooke.

“You do give a fuck about me and my wife because all you care about is if I’m throwing paper your way and dropping dick in you. You’re not my fucking lady nor my responsibility. We were never together. I fucked you a few times, and you ended up pregnant with Blue. Soon as I got them results back from the DNA test and you realized I wasn’t on that type of time with you no more, you turned into an evil-ass bitch. I done let you milk me out of unnecessary money, take my son away from me for months at a time, and some more shit. I’m not ‘bout to let you fuck up my son’s relationship with my wife. He loves her, and she loves him. Quit the petty shit and act like a fucking adult. Maybe if you stopped being so fucking miserable, you would find a nigga to wife you up,” I seethed at her.

She glared at me so hard that she started turning red in the face. “Fuck you, Ahkeem!” She pointed her acrylic nail in my face before storming out of my office.

This shit with Brooke was getting real fucking old. I was getting to the point where I might just let Mirsad get at her so she would leave me the fuck alone.

Chapter Nine

JAZZLYN

“No,no, no, baby! This is Italian leather. You can’t be jumping on that,” Lyric, my boutique’s manager, attempted to contain Saphir as he bopped all throughout the store.

I laughed as I wrapped my arms around Saphir, finally getting him to stop. “Blue, c’mon. You can’t be running and jumping like that in the store.”

“But Jazzy, you and Daddy said we will only be here for a little. We’ve been here for so long,” he complained with a loud groan.

I sighed while walking him over to one of the couches that decorated the store. “Your father’s out back on a phone call. Soon as he’s done, we can leave.” They came and surprised me at my boutique, and now Saphir was rushing me to leave. I couldn’t even front; the little boy ran me. I really couldn’t say no to him or even think about it. He was just so adorable and innocent. He looked just like Ahk. The DNA test he took for him was honestly a waste of money. Saphir was literally a carbon copy of his father.

“You promise?”

“I promise, Blue.” I stuck my pinky out to him, and he hooked his pinky around mine.

I convinced him to chill out and play a game on my phone while I helped restock some pieces on the floor. Every so often, I was able to catch a glimpse of Ahk going in on whoever he had on the phone. It had been a pretty long call, and usually, I would let him take care of business, but now my curiosity was piqued.
