My eyes widened from the darkness that washed over Ahkeem. One thing he did not play about was anyone speaking ill on his mother. Nobody was exempt. He pushed past me so fast that before I knew it, he had his hand latched around Brooke’s neck and had her pressed against the hood of her car.
“Fuck you just say to me?!”
Cyro quickly hopped out of his Escalade and made his way over. I tried to pry Ahk off of her, but I was no match against him. Cyro stepped in and was able to pull him off before pushing him back against his car. From the back seat, Saphir witnessed the entire thing. It devastated me that his parents weren’t doing their fucking part to ensure he wasn’t further traumatized after what the fuck happened at the funeral. They were both acting childish as fuck, and it was pissing me the fuck off.
Brooke leaned over, coughing and gasping for air as she rubbed her neck. “I swear to God, Ahkeem, you’re never fucking seeing my son again!” she cried as salty tears cascaded down her face.
I whipped around to Ahkeem with my eyes slit at him. “The fuck has gotten into you?!” I shoved his chest. “Your fucking son is in the back seat watching you manhandle his mother!”
“I been keeping it calm with this bitch long enough, son. She tries to find any reason to irk the fuck outta me and try to take my son. I ain’t going for that, yo.” He was still seeing red, and at the moment, there was nothing that would calm him down to make him realize he needed to walk the fuck away. “My son not going any-fucking-where!”
I looked past him and could see Saphir in tears in the backseat. He carried every emotion on his sleeve, so I could tell he was hurt after witnessing his parents go at it with each other in that manner.
“You’re going to fucking jail today!” Brooke shakily screamed.
Ahkeem really scared the fuck out her, but she was determined to leave with Saphir. Despite never wanting to speak two words to her, I turned around and faced her. My husband had just done some fucked up shit, but that didn’t excuse what she was doing as well.
“Brooke, I will drop Blue off to you. Just go home and calm down.”
“Jazzlyn, I just fucking said my son not going nowhere. She getting him Tuesday like we agreed on,” he gritted from behind me.
“I don’t even know why the fuck you’re talking to me!” she snapped at me while grabbing her phone from her back pocket. “Blue isn’t your fucking kid! Worry about your crazy-ass husband and how I’m about to get his ass locked up!”
Ahk was ready to get at her again, but Cyro jumped in front of him, pushing him back toward the car. “Call ’em, stupid bitch. They won’t save you from what I’m ‘bout to do to yo ass,” he fumed from behind Cyro.
This shit was pure chaos! I attempted to convince Brooke not to call the police, but she knew that was the only way she would have a chance of getting Saphir.
In my heels, I stormed back over to Ahkeem. I was pissed. He had been doing so good with just letting Brooke be. Today he snapped, and now he was at risk of being put in handcuffs.
“Ahkeem, pull the fuck off! She called the fucking police!” I demanded.
He stared straight past me, his eyes full of hatred and glint as he eyed Brooke. She was on the phone in hysterics telling the operator her location. We lived in an affluent area, so they wasted no time blaring sirens down the block to get to her. Ahk didn’t give a fuck about any of that. In his mind, all he was worried about was keeping his son. My husband took pride in being a father, and all he ever did was show up for Saphir. I witnessed firsthand how Brooke would often times try to make it difficult for him to be in Saphir’s life if he wasn’t doing or giving her what she wanted. She was unfair a lot of the times, but Ahk needed to realize that he handled this situation incorrectly. This should have been one of the times he took the high road, especially in front of his son.
The squad cars pulled up, and I let out a defeated sigh. Ahk was in no position to explain what the fuck was going on, so, of course, I had to speak for him. He was in for an earful if I got him out of this shit, but I had to ride for him.
They spoke to Brooke first, and she ended up wailing as she explained her side of the events. I eyed Ahkeem and yanked his head so he was looking at me.
“I swear to God, Ahkeem, if you get locked up today behind this shit, I’m going to give you hell.”
“Behind my son, I’ll do whatever. Let the bitch do as she please. Watch how I handle her.”
The officers came over to us and asked Ahkeem what happened. Casually, he leaned against his car with his hands in his pocket. “I ain’t got shit to say to y’all.”
Quickly, I stepped in. “I’m his wife. They have a court agreement for shared custody: one week on, one week off. Their weeks end on Tuesdays. She wants to get their son early because of a situation that was beyond our control. I understand her concerns and even offered to drop their son off with her once everything calms down. We just want to take him inside and let him know everything is okay.”
“We can’t dispute the court agreement, so the child can stay in your custody since you guys are married.” The officer pointed at me before turning his attention back to Ahkeem. “But I would have to take you in for assault.”
Ahkeem smacked his lips. “Do what y’all gotta do, son.”
Without further incident, he turned around, and they pressed him against Saphir’s window and slapped handcuffs on his wrists. By now, Saphir was in full-fledged hysterics as he witnessed Ahk being handcuffed.
“Daddy!” he wailed before hopping out of the car. He tried to get to Ahkeem, but I grabbed him up.
“It’s aight, Blue. I’ll be right back. Stay with Jazzy,” Ahk told Saphir as they stuffed his tall frame into the back of the squad car.
Brooke continued to argue with the officers she called about the fact that Saphir shouldn’t have been allowed to stay in my custody. It was court ordered, so there wasn’t much she could do besides wait until Tuesday, then threaten to take us to court. Ahk’s stupid ass may have just given her a fighting chance at obtaining sole custody of Saphir after what he did.
