“When do you ever not wanna eat?” Kaymen scoffed.
I shook my head at the two. They always managed to bicker back and forth. Tasha rationed out the trays of lasagna she whipped up. I ain’t have an appetite, and neither did Jersey. Iknew my homie well, and just off the look on his face, I knew he was in his head.
“Let me holla at you.” I motioned my head toward the den that was now empty since everyone had gone into the kitchen and dining area to eat.
Jersey got up and followed me. “What’s up, J? Talk to me.”
“I feel like this shit my fault,” he sighed.
“Nigga, what? How?”
“We almost had Silas’ bitch ass on that interstate.”
I smacked my lips. “Jersey, this shit ain’t on you. We were in a G-Wagon versus his Lambo. The nigga had luck on his side. We knocked off his whole set he was with. You did what you had to do. I’m not blaming this shit on you.”
“Whatever you need me to do to help you find her, I’m gone do. I don’t give a fuck who I gotta put down to get sis back home.”
“‘Preciate that, Jers’. You my fucking brother.”
We dapped each other up before sharing a hug.
Upon returning to the kitchen, we grabbed our seats, and I pushed my plate away from me. I understood that everybody wanted to keep my spirits high and my mind stress free, but I couldn’t function while my wife was somewhere with God knows who.
My phone went off in my pocket, and I quickly went for it. Noticing that it was Saphir FaceTiming from his iPad, my heart sank. I hadn’t gotten around to telling him what was going on. I didn’t know how honest to be with him. Jazzlyn was one of his favorite people. Everything was up in the air, so I really ain’t know what to tell him. I excused myself from the table again and went to take my son’s call.
“What’s up, Blue?”
“Daddy, is everything alright with Jazzy?” He had a sad look in his eye as he looked at me through the screen. “I called her, and it just keep ringing until voicemail.”
My brows bumped together. “Blue, you sure the call is ringing?” The last couple times I called, her phone was powered off, so the calls were going straight to voicemail. If Jazzlyn’s phone was turned on, it meant I could get her location. Blue nodded his head.
“Is she okay? Mommy told me I should call you and ask.”
I sighed deeply. “Blue, Jazzy had a car accident. That’s why she isn’t answering. I’m taking care of a few things for her now. I don’t want you worried, okay?”
He had an uneasy look sprawled on his face as he nodded his head again with a pout. “Can I talk to her?”
“Not right now, lil man, but as soon as she can talk to you, I’ll make sure to call you. That a deal?”
“Deal. Can you tell her I love her more than my Legos?”
I chuckled. That was their little thing. He would tell her he loved her more than his Legos, which were his prized possessions. In return, she would tell him she loved him more than her Birkin bags.
“Yeah, Blue. I’ll tell her. I love you, twin.”
“I love you too, twin.” We ended the call, and immediately, my smile vanished from my face. I immediately went to check her location, and sure enough, her location was turned back on.
I rushed back to the kitchen with quickness. “I got her lo. We out,” I announced to Diamond and the guys, who shot up out of their seats.
“When the fuck? How?” Priest asked while making his way around to table to hug and kiss Britain goodbye.
“Whoever took her turned her phone back on. Stupid asses don’t know we share locations.”
“Please, guys, be safe and bring her back home.” Britain stood up before waddling over to me and pulling me into a hug.
“I got you, sis.”
Remy made his way over to me as well before dapping me up then pulling me into a fatherly embrace only he knew how to give out to all of us.
