“YES!” Eden looks at Luan, then with a gasp holds his hands up into Luan’s direction. “Look, Uncle Grey’s friend!”
Eden has met Luan, but they never interacted. Brooke knows we’re together, but I don’t think Eden hasanyreal idea who Luan is to me.
“Wow, when did you grow them?” Luan asks, chuckling. I look at my boyfriend just to catch that adorable smile of his. I rarely appreciate the fact that he smiles so much, but I should definitely start to do that more often. I love his smile.
Eden shrugs. “I waked up, then—” He gasps again and looks at his own hands, turning them over like this is the first time he sees them. “—Boom! Hands.”
“Must’ve been quite the surprise waking up to having hands, huh?” I brush his wavy blond hair back, making sure the strands won’t get in his eyes. Eden wants to keep his hair a little longer like Miles, it’s kind of adorable. Especially when one takes into consideration that Eden is more of a mommy’s-boy.
“Yes. And I tell Mommy, and Mommy says that she’s proud and then I went to tell Brookie, but she say that my hands always been there, but I know she just speaking the lie-language.”
Ah, yes… the lie-language. “You definitely grew them over night,” I say, “Brooke’s just being silly.”
Eden agrees. “I didn’t tell Daddy.”
“Why not?”
“Because Daddy always steal Mommy from me, so he don’t deserve to know.”
I shoot Miles a disapproving look from right here, making sure to look extra grumpy for once. Miles laughs at that, though I’m pretty sure he has no idea what my expression is all about. On second thought, he probably heard Eden talk because that kid doesn’t know what an inside-voice is.
“How dare he?”
“RIGHT!” he shrieks, then turns to Luan again. “Do you know he sleeps in Mommy’s bed, too? But when he sleep there, then where I sleep, Uncle Grey’s friend?”
In his own bed, I’m pretty sure.
Luan shrugs. “I don’t know, on the floor?”
Eden nods, though I know that’s not true. “On the floor,” he confirms. “Always on floor.” Miles wouldneverlet Eden sleep on the floor when there’s more than enough space in his bed.
“Do you want me to get mad with your daddy?” I ask, tickling his cute little stomach. “I can tell him to sleep on the floor next time.”
Luan next to me chuckles.
Eden shakes his head, then leans into me a little bit as though he’s about to tell me a secret. “I think Daddy can’t sleep without Mommy, like me when I not have Mini Froggo.”
Ah, yes… Mini Froggo. Milesdreadsthe frog, we all do. He’s creepy as fuck and the only reason Eden even has that thing in the first place is because Colin thought it was hilarious. Since Lily loves frogs and Colin has to live with creepy little frog statues and stuffed animals all around his apartment, Colin gifted Eden a frog about a week after he was born. It was his revenge on Miles for constantly making fun of him for the whole frog thing at his apartment.
Colin also named the frog, clearly.
I live for it, but I donotwant that frog anywhere near me.
“Why’d you think that?” I mean, it is the truth. I honestly believe Miles is incapable of sleeping alone ever since he has Emory.
Eden leans in even closer, whispering, “He never sleep when Mommy away with auntie Sofia.”
“LUAN!” a sweet little high-pitched voice screams, running up to my boyfriend instantly.
When I look at him, he’s just as shocked as I am. How daremylittle Brooke say hello to my boyfriend first?
Brooke jumps into his arms, fully trusting him to catch her. He does, obviously.
“You came!” She giggles and wraps her arms around his neck like she’s known Luan all her life. Theoretically speaking, she’s known him for years. Technically speaking, Brooke has only met Luan a handful of times, so that doesn’t really count asyears.
“Well, yes, of course I did. I wouldn’t have missed your birthday for anything.” He didn’t even know it was her birthday today until I told him two days ago.
“What’s my present?” She takes a step back, her eyes gleaming with eagerness.
