A scream burst inside my chest. Despite what I did and all the pain I’d caused her, this beautiful, caring, sweet woman couldn’t bring herself to hurt me. Not in that vile way.

Roar wouldn’t have hesitated to fuck her sister. Wouldn’t have felt a shred of guilt. Would have bragged about raping a fifteen-year-old. Would have done it again and again without care or remorse.

Yet she couldn’t do the same to his son.

“Cameron, come here.”

She took off the strap-on and tossed it on the floor. “Leave me alone.”

“No. Please. Just come here. I beg you.”

Sniffling, she scrambled to her feet and faced me. “What do you want?”

“If I could, I would have you in my arms right now and never let you go. So please, come close. Let me feel you, Cammi—Cameron.”

Her eyes glistened, and she couldn’t stop crying. She threw herself on my chest, her arms tight around my waist, her tears burning my skin. I pressed my body to hers as much as I could. She met me with equal pressure, as if she needed this embrace more than I did.

I bent my head forward, straining my neck to kiss her forehead. As my lips touched her, she looked up at me. Then her stare dipped to my mouth.

My heart pounded against my ribs as the distance between us inched closer. Her sweet breaths teased my lips. Her hands reached behind my neck and bent me farther down, and then she stretched upward.

Our lips touched, hers too soft against my chapped ones. I kissed her hard. Devoured her. I didn’t care if I was too rough. I needed that kiss. I neededher, and it was the only way I showed her how much I did.

When she pulled away, her lips were dark red and swollen, her breaths catching. She didn’t say anything for a while, her eyes never leaving my lips. I held my breath. Was she going to let me kiss her again? Or slap my face?

She finally looked into my eyes. “I like it when you call me Cammie.”

Battered, dehydrated and blown away by that kiss, I mustered the most sincere smile I could give her now. “And I like you, Cammie. A lot.”

Her eyes were still shiny with tears, but she smiled back. She examined my arms. “You’re getting purple. I’ll go get the keys to the shackles so you can move those limbs before you lose them. Some food and water, too. You must be starving. And something to wear.”

“Tired of watching my hard-ons?”

She bit her lip on a chuckle, already moving. “I won’t be late.”

“Cammie?”

She glanced at me over her shoulder. “Yes?”

“Has it really been two days since you got me here?”

“Yeah. It was Friday night when we…met. Today is Sunday.” She checked her phone. “And it’s almost eleven p.m. now.”

“Just be careful. I’m sure Roar keeps tabs on me. My bike is still at the Belle View. Someone must have noticed by now.”

She nodded.

“And don’t send the photo. Just arrange for the trade. I won’t tell them anything. We’ll get your sister back, and I won’t let anyone hurt either of you.”

Her lips puckered. “If she’s still alive.”

She had to be. Rescuing Annie was my only chance to save my life and Cameron’s. To make amends and win Cameron’s heart.

CHAPTER 20

Cameron

I locked the steel door that hid Dusty from the world and walked the dark tunnel, using my phone as a flashlight. Two things haunted me as I climbed the ladder well that led to the backyard of my Dad’s house.
