Bang!

“Laius!” she cried out.

I couldn’t afford to look back. I moved across the field, my strength fading away all of a sudden. The metallic taste of blood filled my mouth, and I had to spit so I wouldn’t choke.

“Ty?” Fear pierced her bloodshot eyes.

I stumbled on the dead grass, but I managed to steady myself before we fell. My feet barely moved in a straight line, and I felt something wet spreading over my abdomen.

Collapsing on the dirt, I held her as hard as I could so that she wouldn’t get any more hurt and let my body take the whole impact. That was when I noticed the blood soaking my shirt and cut. My blood. I must have gotten shot and didn’t feel it because of adrenaline. Fuck.

I tried to lift her up and move, but my body wouldn’t budge. “Jo, baby, you have to listen to me. You have to gather your strength,” more blood came out of mouth, “and try to walk.”

“Ty… Ty, no,” she whimpered. “I can’t leave you. You said forever. There’s no forever without you.”

“You have to go, Jo. You have to take care of our baby. I know you’ll be an amazing mother. Now, it’s your chance to be happy away from all my crap.”

“Ty, please!”

My breath caught, and I didn’t know how many I had left. “It’s a lot to ask, but please forgive me for anything I’ve done. You have to know I loved you more than anything, Jo. I’m sorry. I just wanted to give you everything you ever dreamed of. I wanted nothing in this world but for you to be happy with me.” I shrugged in resignation. “At least, I tried.”

“I love you, Tirone. Please. Don’t give up. Try to walk with me. Fight with me, for me. For us.”

I touched her stomach, a strange peace washing over me. “My baby mama, you’re gonna be all right. Our baby, too. I can feel it.” From a distance, I saw someone coming, and the click of a gun echoed in my ear. I smiled at her, touching her beautiful locks and looking into her eyes. “I love you, my little faerie.”

In one swift move, I pushed her aside and shielded her one last time while I still could. A gun muzzle stared in my face.

Bang!

CHAPTER 25

Jo

“But love is blind and lovers cannot see the pretty follies that themselves commit,” I read, touching my huge belly in soothing circles. “That’s one of Daddy’s favorite quotes, you know?”

The baby kicked twice. I looked down at my baby bump. “Oh, you like that? Okay, do you want another?” Another double kick. “All right. Let’s see.” I picked another book by Emily Dickson. I could never get over my surprise when Tirone first told me he actually read Dickson, let alone loved this particular quote. I leafed through the pages. “Here it is.Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality. Nay, it is Deity. Unable they that love to die, for Love reforms vitality into Divinity.”

The kicks continued rapidly. “Easy, tiger. That’s still Mommy’s belly you’re swimming in. When will you pop, little star? Mommy is exhausted…and horny. So horny.”

Keys rattled at the door, and familiar boots stomped through the hall and into the bedroom. “Baby, you can’t keep calling me to pull me off Church to come fuck you.”

“Yes, I can. I’m nine months pregnant and horny as f-u-c-k. You’re my husband, and I need you. Who else is going to take care of me?”

“Me, baby girl.” Laius chuckled as he leaned against the doorframe, looking extra delicious today. “Daddy always takes care of his baby girl.”

I put the book down with a smile and awkwardly got to my knees on the bed. With my current weight, the only way we could do it was from behind. His belt jiggled, and I felt his warmth as he positioned himself behind me.

“You want me to suck it for you first, daddy, to get it ready for me?” I offered playfully.

He took my hand and placed it on his erection. Fuck. He was so hard. “Does it look like I’m not ready? One glance at you is all I need, baby.” He slid inside me, and my pussy stretched to adjust to his size. He cupped my tit as he pushed a little farther. “Fuck, those titties, baby.” My breast size had doubled, and it’d been driving him nuts. “I gotta keep you pregnant all the fucking time.”

I throbbed around him, knowing he could get me pregnant again. After we came out of the hospital, he told me everything about the vasectomy. He had it after Delilah took Tirone and framed him. He didn’t want to be used that way ever again. But, he’d saved his sperm, in case, one day, he’d met a woman that deserved his name.

“I’d have given anything to have a baby with you, Jo,” he’d said. “You only have to say the word once, and my baby will be growing inside you whenever you want.”

I was glad he did save his sperm and that I was the one he wanted to have a family with, but, at the same time, when the doctor—under his death threats while he’d literally held a gun to his head—miraculously saved me and Tirone’s baby, a safe, balanced life with my current family was all I wanted. Being the mother of both Furore’s grandson and Tirone’s brother was too messed up and unfair to all of us, the kids included.

“You sure this okay?” he asked.
