She smirked.

“I kinda like it when you’re bossy.”

She picked up the scissors from the first aid kit and started cutting the Band-Aids into butterfly stitches. “I’m always bossy.”

“Exactly.” He winked at her, then winced. “Just like old times, eh?”

She took the cloth from his hand and put it on her leg before moving his hands to hold the two edges of his wound together. She swiped some petroleum jelly over the seam before taping the first butterfly-Band-Aid over the cut. Pressing down the edges she sighed.

“This is one part of our past I could do without reliving. I hated what your dad did to you.”

Finn nodded. “I know. But knowing you would be there for me on the other side, even just to sit in silence while I strummed my guitar, or have a shake at the diner… it meant the world to me.”

She stuck the second stitch across his cut. “As awful as it was, it meant a lot to me that you let me see that side of you. I know it wasn’t easy. And if I’m honest, there was a piece of me that loved being the only one to know that part of you.”

He cupped her face. “It was easier to show you than you might think.”

She ignored the swooping and flipping in her stomach. “You can’t charm your way out of me being cranky that you fought.”

He grinned. “Can too. I’m sorry. Austin was there the whole time and he made sure I didn’t fight anyone I shouldn’t have.”

Rolling her eyes, she giggled. “Uh huh. I get it. I want to hit things too. I’d just die if I went to that skeevy warehouse you boys play in.”

“Austin plays. I usually only watch, honest. I just needed something more tonight.”

“I’m pissed at you.”

“I deserve it.”

“I can’t stand your face right now.”

“Maybe you should sit on it so you don’t have to look at it.”

She snorted. “If you hadn’t busted it all up, I’d consider it.”

“My tongue works just fine.”

She frowned, not quite ready to let it go and placed the third and final stitch. “Did you win at least?”

His shoulder shook with silent laughter. “Got my ass handed to me in my first fight, decided I was done for the night, and came here for you to patch me up.”

“I’ll always patch you up.”

Finn rubbed at his chest with a closed fist. “I just can’t shake this feeling. I don’t regret things happening between us, but…”

“You’re scared he won’t come around.”

He heaved out a sigh. “Yeah.”

Molly zipped up the first aid kit and smacked her thigh. “Know what you need?”

He wiggled his eyebrows.

“Not that.” She paused. “Well, that too. But first, you need a wallowing board.”

“What the fuck is a wallowing board?”

Taking his hand, she stood and led him into the kitchen. “I’m so very glad you asked. Sit.” She tossed the bag on the counter before linking her fingers, flexing them, and rolling her neck. “Prepared to be amazed.”
