She licked her lips, a feral gleam in her eye under the street lights. Rain streamed down her face as she tugged his head back once again with a grin. His blood ran like lava in his veins, thrumming through him like she was his life source.

He couldn’t get enough. He broke free of her grip on his hair and crashed his mouth against hers in a clash of nipping, biting, and thrashing tongues.

He was a moth to her flame, only too happy to beg her to set him on fire if it meant he could spend forever kissing her.

“Take that girl home, Obi.”

Molly’s legs jerked from Finn’s waist at the sound of Joe’s voice. As she pulled her body away the cold air met his wet skin. His stomach dipped. He wasn’t ready to let her go.

“You’ll both catch your deaths out here in this rain!” Joe tossed a stuffed garbage bag into a dumpster and hurried back inside.

“Yes, Sir.” Finn saluted Joe but didn’t take his eyes off Molly’s face. She gnawed on the edge of her lip and her eyes darted back and forward as though searching for something in his expression.

He waited for the guilt to hit, but it never came. “Molly…”

She smacked a hand over his mouth and shook her head. “Don’t. I need space from your…” Gesturing at his crotch she tried to step back but cracked her elbow off the wing mirror. “Fuck.”

“You need space from my fuck?” His nostrils flared as he fought a smile. Perhaps if he showed her things could still be relatively normal between them despite the fact he just had his tongue in her mouth and his hands cupping her ass she’d relax about the whole thing.

Her brow crinkled and she gave him a look that loudly proclaimed he was an idiot.

Then again, maybe not.

She stared him down as he raised his hands and brushed them through his hair, shaking off the rain. He was drenched to his skin but he didn’t care. Her kiss had fanned the smoldering coals in his chest and turned them into a blazing inferno. The cold couldn’t touch him.

Phantom sensations lingered in his palms and on his lips and his fingers twitched to wrap themselves in her hair or curl around her ass cheeks. Fighting every urge to pick her up again, he took a step backwards and nodded. “Okay.”

“Okay?”

“You need space, time, to think… whatever. You can have it. But I’m going to be here when you’re ready to give in to this…” He pointed between them both. “I’m not done with you, Molly Morrison.”

His dick twitched in agreement as he backed away toward his car. She clamped her lips between her teeth and bolted into her car, starting the engine and pulling away from Joe’s parking lot faster than he could blink. As he stood in the easing rain, with droplets of water cascading down his back under his shirt and between his ass cheeks, all he could think about was kissing Molly Morrison again.

He rocked out to old school Stereophonics as he drove home drumming on the steering wheel and not caring that the sorority girls in the car next to him at the red light were very clearly laughing at him.

He was walking on air. His shoulders were lighter than they’d been for months, maybe even years. He’d finally made a move on Molly and she hadn’t murdered him with her laser stare. Things were looking up.

He parked his car and skipped up the path to the house, whistling the song from the Little Mermaid. So he’d been a little cheesy, so what? He happened to know that Molly loved Disney movies – okay, fine, she preferred the villains – Ursula, Maleficent, the Queen of Hearts, but she’d kissed him back nonetheless. Behind her cool and confident exterior there was a squishy core. Bring on the cheese.

Sure, their first kiss was somewhat of a disaster, but he’d more than made up for it with the second. Hadn’t he? He paused at the door and checked his phone. Nothing from Molly, but a slew of messages from the team in group chat about missing an impromptu team meeting.

Shit.

Had he not redeemed their flat first kiss? He closed his eyes as drops of rain fell from his hair onto his nose and a shiver rattled along his back as his cold, wet shirt skimmed his skin. He could still taste her lip balm. Was it the Huckleberry he’d bought her? He didn’t care if it was ear wax flavor, he was addicted. That kiss was the best he’d ever had, there was no better, there could be no better, it was everything. She was everything.

Animated voices behind the door gave him pause, his teammates were playing something on the TV in the living room, and there was no sneaking past them. The door squeaked as he pushed it open, and he winced.

“Ah ha! He has returned.” Linc raised a bottle of beer in the air in Finn’s direction. Russ arched an eyebrow. Austin stood against the waist-high bookshelves in the corner, arms folded. He wasn’t big on computer games, it usually took something big to pry his ass off the counter to join in which meant this was a DEFCON three or higher level team meeting, not DEFCON one or two.

Will erupted into cheers as Princess Peach crossed the finish line in Mario Kart. “Victory is mine!” He turned to face Finn, and pursed his lips. “Where you been, Obi? You might wanna get upstairs and get out of those wet clothes before you leave a puddle and someone falls on their ass. That’s all we need. Man down due to slipping on the tiles and putting his back out.”

Always responsible. Often somewhat exaggerated or worst case, but always thinking of others. That was Will. He was the moon to Finn’s tide. Finn had no doubt that if he knew Will when Liam got knocked down, Liam would still be alive. Will would have known what to do. He wouldn’t have frozen, clutching to Liam’s body, sobbing instead of getting help.

Finn’s gut clenched as Will raised his eyebrows and mouthed “You okay?”

Finn nodded and brushed the excess water from his hair onto the doormat. Taking off upstairs, he pulled his phone from his back pocket. Still nothing from Molly. He’d never really been in the position of wanting to message a woman so soon after a non-date-date to talk to her. But nothing about his feelings for Molly was normal as far as his history with the opposite sex.

He toed off his shoes inside his room and leaned on the door to close it behind him. His fingers hovered over her name to call her, but he couldn’t bring himself to hit the button. Tossing his phone onto his bed, he sighed before stripping off his suit and grabbing a towel.
