“It’s called a business card.”
I rolled my eyes at the sarcasm. “I mean what’s it for?”
“In case you decide not to be unpredictable next time.”
That almost made me smile.
Almost.
I took it anyway, sliding it into my bag without looking at it.
“Should we shake hands or?”
He gave me a hard look then walked towards his bed.
“Good night, Desire.” He dismissed me.
Maybe he’s thankful I decided to leave and he didn’t have to put up with my slick mouth anymore.
“Goodnight, Mr. S.” I blew him a flirty kiss and a wink. “See ya around!”
The hallway felt colderthan his room. Or maybe that was just me coming back to reality.
By the time I got to my suite, I kicked my shoes off the second the door closed behind me.
“Orim! Chewy! I’m back!”
Chewy came sprinting across the room like I’d abandoned him for a year instead of a few hours, nails tapping fast against the floor, whole body shaking with excitement.
I bent down just in time to catch him.
“Okay, okay, relax,” I laughed, scooping him up.
“He was crying, by the way,” Orim’s voice came from the couch.
I looked over.
She was laid out with her silk scarf tied around her hair, phone in hand, scrolling mindlessly.
“He was not crying,” I said, walking further into our room.
“He was,” she said, not even looking up. “And I almost called you, but then I remembered…”
I winced. “I don’t know where my phone is.”
“Mhm.” Now she looked up, sizing me with her eyes. “I figured that out.”
I paused, narrowing my eyes. “Meaning?”
She sat up a little, dragging her gaze over me. “It means… you had a time.”
I rolled my eyes, setting Chewy down. “You’re dramatic.”
“Oh, I’m dramatic?” she laughed. “Girl, our room is directly under his. I heard everything.”
I froze. “…you lying.”
“I wish I was,” she said, dead serious now. “Crystal clear. I didn’t even need to try.”
