“Fuck off,” I say, looking over at chat. “No flirting while I’m on my date!”
“Quit looking at chat and help me find the right fucking letter. Jesus Christ. Can’t you focus for five seconds? We’ve been stuck on this level for like thirty minutes because you won’t hand me one stupid letter!”
“I’m looking! It would help if you’d stop screaming at me!”
“You werenot! I have your stream pulled up! I know for a fact that you’ve walked past the fucking letter three times now!”
I huff, gritting my teeth. “I have not! What the fuck?”
“I’m so serious right now, Suga. If you pass the letter one more time without grabbing it, I’m going to disconnect from this stupid game.”
Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Don’t do it.
I purposefully walk past the letter again. Then I look into the camera and give a little wink.
I wait a moment and when the stream delay finally hits, I hear Sookie actually screaming. Then I hear banging as he slams his headphones against the table. He disconnects from the game.
Chat goes absolutely wild.
“Oh my gods,” I get out between fits of laughter. I laugh so hard my stomach starts to hurt. Gods, is this how he feels when he gets my gears going when he’s in chat.
GuessWhat(vip): I’m not sure if I’m allowed to laugh or not
WizeWizard(mod): Suga… that was mean even for you..
OliverandCompany(vip): Sully wants you to know you’re an asshole and he will NOT be coming over tonight
ExcitedOwl: Wooooow
TenMonster(vip): This has been a truly terrible date
“Shut up, Ten,” I say, wiping my face. “I had a fabulous time right there at the end. It’s not my faultsomeonegot their panties all twisted up.”
“I’m still here, you jackass. I don’t wear panties so stop thinking about me in such. Also hi, Owl! Please don’t doxx me!”
ExcitedOwl: I WOULD NEVER! BROS BEFORE HOES!
“Hey!” I cry out. “I’m not a hoe! What the fuck, Owl!”
Sookie just chuckles and the noise does something inside my chest. I like the way he sounds when he laughs. It’s much better than when he’s screaming at me.
“Okay, so this game was a bit of a bust.” I turn to my second monitor, sending an invite to Sookie for a different game. We jump into it together, starting up a brand new world. “This might be better. Much more chill. We can just hang out and talk.”
Sookie hums, his character appearing on screen across from me. This is an open world, sandbox type game. You spawn in with some basic tools and armor. Then you explore, upgrading your tools as you go along. You can collect materials, build stuff, cook food, and just basically do whatever you want.
We run around for a while, exploring ruins and collecting materials. It’s nice, just hanging out like this. I talk to chat, glad that a bunch of the people Rin sent over have grown bored and left. I like it when chat is small.
We decide to play twenty questions, going back and forth asking random things.
“What’s your favorite color?”
Sookie snorts. “Really? That’s what you’re going with?”
“Just answer the question,” I say, crafting some supplies as we start building a house together.
“Green,” he finally says. “Do you like men? Like romantically?”
Thank the gods I wasn’t sipping my water at that moment because I’m sure it would have gone everywhere. “Okay, Jesus,” I say, still sputtering. “Not pulling any punches, huh?”
