Neither of us liked keeping our relationship a secret, but Dimitri said he was going to figure out how to get away from the Bratva so we didn’t have to anymore. He said we could start over somewhere else, just us, and never have to worry about our parents or any of that bullshit again.
How did everything change so drastically in a simple few hours?
Shaking the negative thoughts from my head, I take a deep breath and pick up my pace as the first drop of rain hits my cheek. I jog toward our RV as it starts pelting my hoodie, my stomach pitching before it starts to twist the closer I get.
I don’t like this.
This feeling in my gut telling me something is off. It’s probably just the weather, the weight of the sudden change. We’ve had nothing but a peaceful stay here, I have no reason to think anything else is going on.
Right.
I slow down as I notice Caroline and Tessa’s lights are on, grinning at the idea of those two waiting on bated breath to hear all about Liv and I.
I didn’t get to smoke with them since my girl made me go shopping, so she can wait a few extra minutes while I give them the dirt.
Not that I’m going to describe how her slick tastes or the pretty face she makes when she comes. I’ll give them just enough to keep things awkward for my mate until we leave.
Setting our groceries under their awning, I walk up to the door, pulling open the screen before I knock softly.
Don’t need to scare them with my unexpected visit.
I wait a few seconds then knock again, taking a step back to look toward their kitchen then glance toward the living room.
Maybe they’re in bed?
It’s a bit early for them but it’s not impossible.
Stepping on the bottom stair, I knock a little louder and frown when their door slowly pops open.
“Tessa?” I call out as I push in a little further. “Caroline? Ladies, are you decent?”
That’s all I need. To walk in on two omegas in their sixties getting it on. Good for them if they are, but I don’t think Liv is going to get any tonight if that’s the image I’m taking home with me.
“Hello?” I step into their living room, looking around a bit before my stomach pitches again.
Nothing is out of place, everything is clean and neat. Orderly. Nothing is broken or missing from what I can see. There’s just no sign of our neighbors, either.
This doesn’t feel right.
That’s the only reason I completely invade their space until I’m standing at their bedroom door.
“Ladies, are you home?”Please answer me.“I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”
The door swings open with hardly any effort and when it smacks against the wall and falls off the hinges, what I see has my stomach churning.
Tessa and Caroline are in bed, dressed in their pajamas, laying on their sides facing each other. Their hands have been tied behind their backs, and they’ve been zip tied at the wrists and ankles. There’s a rope connecting them, stretching from their feet, running through the tie at their hands, then further still as it wraps around a gag in each of their mouths.
Like a garrote.
Too much moving and it would pull the rope tight like a horse’s bridle, and that’s why both women have blood by their lips. Their mouths frozen in silent cries for help.
Cries that were smothered as someone pressed the muzzle of a gun to their temples and ended their future with one single pull of the trigger.
Their cheeks are streaked in tears, their eyes wide and fixed on each other’s faces, void of the vibrancy and life both women exuded in waves.
I step a little closer, my stare scanning the horror in front of me and it’s that moment a tear rolls down my cheek.
They had to watch.
