Lacie took a sip of her drink before she spoke. “I have to agree with Nicole. You weren’t meant to have a baby with that fuck boy. What kind of nigga buys the same engagement ring for two women?”

That answer didn’t matter to Pril. She just wanted to be done with the entire situation. Her period was still on. The pain from her cramps was almost unbearable. She wanted to crawl under her covers with a heating pad, chocolate, and pain medication in her system.

“It doesn’t matter, because that nigga ain’t my nigga any longer. When I talked to him earlier, he was just as normal as he always was. Bitch talked to me like he didn’t have a whole family down the road.” Pril shook her head at the audacity of her ex-fiancé.

Lacie and Nicole looked on as their best friend moved around to place things in bins. They knew she would rather do anything but this. She didn’t have to tell them that she was in pain. It showed in how slow she moved and the pauses that she took randomly.

The ladies got into a rhythm of packing. They only had a few more hours before Vince, Jordan, and whoever else they brought would be there to help get all of Derrick’s shit out of Pril’s house to Chasity’s apartment. Part one of the two-part plan was almost completed. Part two of the plan would start the day Derrick arrived home.

Pick ’Em Up & Drop ’Em Off . . .

The day had finally come for Derrick to come home. He always enjoyed his work trips because the accommodations were great and his company treated their associates like gold. Every time he had a business trip, he told Pril that it was a few days to a week longer than it really was. The extra days gave him uninterrupted time to spend with Chasity and his boys.

He’d gotten himself in a very sticky situation. Derrick didn’t regret his sons, but he would be lying if he didn’t say that he wished Pril was their mother. The one thing that he wanted more than anything was to have a family. He came from a big family with eight siblings. Three of his siblings he shared with his mother and father, two he shared with his mother, and the other three he shared with his father.

It was Derrick’s intention to have all of his children with Pril, but after the third miscarriage, he started to lose faith that it would happen. The last miscarriage was what led him to the club the night that he met Chasity. She was a bottle girl there and was ready for the fucking.

It was meant to be a fling, but Chasity got attached. Derrick didn’t see it as a real problem because he was able to keep her in pocket at first. Just when he was ready to officially cut her off, she revealed her pregnancy. A sense of obligation hovered overhim. He didn’t want to be like his father and leave his children fatherless. In the same breath, he didn’t want to leave Pril.

Regardless of what it looked like, he loved her. He had love for Chasity, but he was far from in love with her. He never told her about Pril because like his family insinuated, she was immature. His mother begged him to cut it off before it was too late. Two sons in, it was safe to say that it was too late.

His plane landed fifteen minutes ago. He made his way through the airport after he picked up his luggage. Pril texted him a few minutes ago to let him know that she was there in the departure lane.

Derrick genuinely missed her. Outside of Pril’s medical issues, she was perfect in his eyes. It was just that medical issue that was so heavy. The thought of not having children terrified him. He didn’t have to worry about that any longer because of his sons Derrick Junior and Dorian. He did have to worry that he had them with the wrong woman.

“Hey, baby. I missed you,” Pril greeted him. She allowed him to wrap his arms around her and hug her tight.

Derrick buried his face into her neck to inhale her scent that he loved. Once he was satisfied with his fill of it, he kissed her neck. “Hey, baby. You look good. How are you feeling?”

With a flirtatious tone, Pril responded. “I feel great. My period went off the other day.”

Those words triggered Derrick’s dick to jump. It had been almost a month since they had sex. Their sex was great when she wasn’t in pain. He would rather have sex with her over Chasity, but Chasity was more available to have sex with. “Oh, really? It sounds like I’m going to be in that pussy tonight.”

She giggled. “You’re definitely going to be in some pussy tonight. Come on so we can go before we get cussed out.”

He smacked her ass before he picked his bag up to put in the back seat of her car. Soon they were on their way. He noticed the glow on Pril’s skin. “You’re glowing, baby.”

She glanced his way with a bright smile. “Thank you, baby. I had a great week. It started out crazy, but from crazy came clarity. Now I feel like I’m on the top of the world.”

“As long as you’re on top of the world, then that means that I am too. We’re one.” Derrick wanted to ask about the crazy, but he didn’t want to go down a road that he wasn’t sure where it would lead.

They rode in silence for a while. When they passed the exit that led to their house, his head tilted. “Baby, where we going?”

“Oh, I forgot to tell you. There’s someone that I want you to meet. They don’t live too far,” Pril told him.

He nodded at her words. His eyes didn’t leave the road. The longer they drove, the more confused he got. He recognized the route, but maybe it was just a coincidence.

When they turned into a very familiar apartment complex, Derrick’s back lifted from the seat. His nerves sat on the edge of his soul. “Who lives here, baby?”

Pril’s spirit jumped for joy at the angst in his tone.Yeah, muthafucka! Be worried!“Oh, I met the nicest girl earlier this week. Her name is Chasity. She has two of the cutest little boys.”

Derrick’s heart dropped to his pinky toe. This could not be life. “Oh, really? Where did you meet her at?”

He felt like he wanted to piss himself when Pril pulled into the parking space designated for Chasity’s apartment building. What the hell was really going on? He knew that the Chasity she mentioned was his Chasity, but he needed her to say it.

Pril didn’t respond until she put her car in park, rolled down the window, and turned the engine off. She shifted in her seat to better face Derrick. “I met Chasity when she came to my house to inform me that we were engaged to the same man. Let me askyou, did you buy our rings together on a special? Buying us the same ring is diabolical.”

Derrick had to find the words. There was no way that he wanted it to end like this. Hell, he didn’t want it to end at all. “Baby, I can explain. I know I fucked up, but I promise we can make it through this.”
