“Not ridiculous to me.” Debra cupped Sharon’s cheek. “I’d pay double what she charges. Hell, I’d pay more if it led me to you.”

“Babe…” Sharon smiled.

“She’s right, you know?”

“About?”

“That you’re just what I needed.”

“It’s the same for me, you know?”

“I’m glad. I really thought I’d come here and would be leaving alone. Now, not only am I not leaving alone, but I’mleaving with someone I have so many things to look forward to with.”

“Yeah? Like what? Watching movies on my laptop in my apartment?” Sharon laughed a little.

“Yes, actually. You’ll have to snuggle up really close to me, and I’ll get to touch you. Then, if we’re watching something that turns us on, there could bemoretouching.”

“Oh, you’re thinking aboutthosekinds of movies, huh?”

“Not necessarily. I wouldn’t be opposed to that, but it could be anything that’s relatively sexy or romantic. We could be close, and my hand could end up somewhere.”

Sharon chuckled and said, “Okay. I’m starting to look forward to watching things with you on my computer, cuddled up in bed.”

“I’m also looking forward to you coming home smelling like coffee.”

“Oh, God. Why?”

“Because I love the smell of coffee, and I love how you smell. That combination has to be good, and I can’t wait.”

Sharon straddled her and said, “It’s not that great, really, and I don’t plan to do this forever, so you’ll have to get your coffee smell fix elsewhere.”

Debra placed her hands on Sharon’s thighs and asked, “Can I stop by your work one day?”

“And see me in my apron and hat that’s way too large for my head? No way.”

“You’ll look cute.”

“I’ll look like a tired barista who doesn’t care if I put in whole milk or skim when someone asks for something non-fat. I don’t want to do this job forever. I just can’t seem to get into anything I want.”

“You will,” she said. “Do you want me to check around a little? See if I know anyone looking for a recruiter?”

“Nepotism?” Sharon asked with a lifted eyebrow.

“It’s just asking if they have a role open. You’d still have to apply, interview, and get it, so not nepotism. Though, Icouldoffer to put your resume in front of people, if you want. A little more on the nepotism scale, but you would still have to earn the job.”

“Is my girlfriend ridiculously powerful?” Sharon teased. “She sounds powerful.”

Debra laughed and said, “God, I haven’t had a girlfriend in a long time.”

“Want one now?”

“Yes,” she said. “And I’m not ridiculously powerful. I’m an executive with a big company, so I know a lot of people at other big companies. That’s all.”

“And you would be willing to put my resume in front of them?”

“Yes, if you want me to.”

Debra smiled up at her, wondering where Sharon was going with this.
