“Yeah,” River agreed, not even knowing what Kennedy had been about to say.

“I have an important question,” Kennedy said and kissed River’s shoulder.

“What?”

“Were your fingers, like, made for my body?”

River chuckled, kissed Kennedy’s neck, and replied, “I don’t know. Maybe. Why? Did it feel that way to you?”

“It feels like they’re meant to be right where they are,” Kennedy said softly. “And like this was supposed to happen exactly how it just happened.”

“Our first time in a pool?” River asked as she moved to look into Kennedy’s eyes and pushed some of Kennedy’s hair back away from her face with her free hand.

“Yes,” Kennedy replied. “How do you feel?”

River wasn’t sure how to summarize her feelings in this moment. She still felt very turned on and ready to go again, but she also felt like she wanted to stare at Kennedy like this, post-orgasm and so ridiculously beautiful. She never wanted to move and wanted to experience so much more with this woman in front of her at the same time.

“Like I’m right where I should be,” she finally answered.

“Do you want to go inside now?”

“Yes. But we have to take a shower first. I want to lick your skin and not the chlorine,” she said. “I only want to tasteyou. And I know: no underwear hanging on the shower and dripping down to the floor.”

Kennedy laughed and said, “You get me, don’t you?”

“I still have a lot to learn, but I think I’ve got myself a good start.”

“Want to learn something new right now?”

“Yes,” River said.

“I really, really like oral sex,” Kennedy shared. “Like, a lot. And I want you on the bed so I can do that to you, too.”

River’s eyes widened yet again, and she stated, “Dream woman.”

Kennedy smiled and said, “Not that I want you to go, but…”

“Oh, shit.”

River gently pulled out of Kennedy and held on to her hips.

“I already miss you,” Kennedy said and then kissed her sweetly.

“Oh, I’ll be back,” River replied with a wink.

CHAPTER 41

Lacey

She’d dressed up for tonight. It was their sixth date, and Lacey was more than ready for them to take that step they hadn’t yet taken. She was hopeful Cameron would be, too, but she hadn’t asked or brought it up with her yet. Cameron had stayed over a few times now, and she had stayed over at Cameron’s rental once since the new bed had arrived. Every time, they’d stopped themselves from taking things further for one reason or another, but Lacey was ready. She’d shaved her legs, bought a nicer bra and panty set, and hoped Cameron would take it off her later tonight.

Since they still couldn’t really go out in public without people taking pictures and asking questions, their dates had been mostly in Lacey’s apartment. One of them would pick up food or they’d grab it together and Lacey would drive them, with Cameron wearing a hat and sitting in the passenger seat. Lacey hadn’t minded. It was as if she’d been preparing for this without preparing for it at all her entire life. Cameras aimed at them didn’t bother her. The thought of going to an event on Cameron’s arm was a different story, but not one they had to tackle right now, so she’d deal with that later.

She’d wanted to make tonight special, so she’d pushed her coffee table out of the way and had set up her massage table, turned on some soft music, lit a few candles, and let the essential oils help set the mood. She hadn’t worn her uniform, though, and Cameron would not be a client tonight, but shewouldbe getting a massage because Lacey couldn’t wait to get her hands on Cameron’s body.

She’d never even thought to do this with River before. Massages in bed when River had had a long day at the shop, with her sitting between Lacey’s legs while Lacey worked on her neck? Sure. But nothing like this. Lacey had Cameron’s favorite beer in the fridge, the oven was pre-heating, and she would put the meal she’d prepped earlier inside it when Cameron got there. The table was already set, and her bottle of red wine was breathing. Lacey was full of nervous anticipation, and she’d never felt it quite like this before. Yes, she was falling for Cameron, and there were things they’d have to figure out, but tonight, she just wanted a nice, romantic evening with the woman she was dating.

When the knock on the door came, Lacey checked her flowy dress that hoped was okay for the night for any wrinkles and took a deep breath before she opened the door to Cameron standing there in a slate-gray button-down shirt and dark jeans. She oozed cool confidence, and Lacey wanted to skip the massage because that cool confidence was her kryptonite.
