“That was...I’m so...” The disjointed words were interrupted by smiles and sighs that said more than the words ever would. “I’m so glad I found you.”

Before I could reply or even ease out of his exhausted body, he let out a deep breath and sleep pulled him under.

He was utterly insane but that seemed to be one of his best qualities, so I wasn’t going to complain...I was, however, going to get us both cleaned up and him tucked in bed. My naughty author’s work was done for the day but I still had a few things to take care of.

Chapter 13

Knox

“I was kind of hoping I was tired enough last night that you would’ve fucked me in my sleep, but I don’t think you did.” Unfortunately.

“If you don’t stop pouting, I’m going to ask you how long it’s been since you had a regular sleep schedule with enough hours at a time in it.” Rohan was clearly not a morning person because he hadn’t even opened his eyes before threatening me.

It was sexy.

But it could also be dangerous, so I tried to be careful.

“I wasn’t pouting.” I’d just been a tiny bit dramatic. “Besides, we talked about that one, so it wasn’t unreasonable to think it might happen.”

Rohan peeked one eye open. “Are you always a morning person or is this because you got sleep last night?”

“Um, both?” I wasn’t sure I should volunteer how bad my sleep schedule had been lately. “I also wasn’t sure what the right protocol was, so I could’ve just gone down to my office to work, but I couldn’t decide if that would be rude.”

Something made Rohan smile, but I wasn’t sure what, so I just kept rambling. “I didn’t want you to wake up and think I’d deserted you or the gremlins had gotten me. So I just peed, made sure nothing moved last night, and then I came back to wait with you.”

And I’d stayed very quiet until he’d started waking up on his own.

He should’ve been thinking of ways to reward me for that.

“Did anything move?” Rohan went right to the most important part, which I appreciated.

“No.” I wasn’t sure if the gremlins hadn’t followed me or if I’d left the alternate personality who was fucking with my main personality at home, but either way I was relieved nothing had moved.

“Stop looking like that.” Rohan sat up, frowning and kissing my head as he stretched. “You aren’t crazy. You don’t have aliens or gremlins. You also aren’t as dirty as you think.”

“If you say so.” I wasn’t sure I could agree to any of that, but I was glad for the reprieve I’d been given.

He scoffed and rolled his eyes before scooting up to lean against the headboard and pulling me into his lap. “First of all, you had Pepsi containers in your trash and cereal in your sink. Think about that.”

“Maybe aliens don’t like Coke?” My answer was reasonable given the circumstances, but he sighed.

“You don’t have either of those products in your house, Knox.” He paused and made a thinking sound. “Think about that. Someone brought it in. Alien, gremlin, person...someone else is coming into your house and there would be no reason for aliens to pickyouto come hang out with.”

He had a point.

“I’m not good company when I’m working and I don’t socialize enough for them to be happy.” Thinking about it more as Rohan gave a deep chuckle that made my dick perk up again, I frowned. “You said there was no one living in my house, right?”

“Correct.” He kissed the side of my head and snuggled me close. “And nothing that said you had animals or paranormal creatures living there either.”

He was smart to check for all the options.

“It’s been kind of nerve-racking.” Petting his chest, I shifted lower on his lap so I could rest my head on his shoulder. “And I sounded crazy the only time I tried to explain it to Lori. She asked if she should find me a therapist.”

Rohan let out a sigh. “Without knowing your preferences and seeing the chaos, I can understand why she jumped to a mental breakdown. I know what you like well enough to see the problems with the drinks and the food. Just hearing you talk about it...yeah...sorry, but it does sound insane.”

I shrugged, not feeling bad about it. “Yeah, realistically I understand that but it was still frustrating.”

No one helped...until Rohan. “I’m glad you don’t think I’m crazy, though.”
