His brain was a fascinating place.
“I might be talked into that.” Especially since he was in such a good mood at having the stress of everything gone from his eyes. “But you’re still going to get punished before you bribe me with blow jobs and naps.”
We’d need the naps later at the very least.
Wrapping his arms around me, Knox looked like he was plotting. “Spankings kind of punishments?”
Hmm.
“I don’t think that would help you to remember why sleeping is so important.” It would wear him out again, though. “I’m thinking lines or an essay about the consequences of not getting enough rest.”
I was mostly fucking with him to see what he’d do, but his pout was so adorable I had to keep playing along.
“Oh, that’s...” Shivering, he looked like he’d just smelled something disgusting. “I...I think being close to you and working on pleasing my Master would be a good way to make that lesson stick.”
Sometimes the hardest part of living with him was having to hide how much I wanted to laugh.
“I don’t know about that.” His brain worked entirely too quickly in the middle of the fucking night. “I’m not sure how those two are connected.”
Testing his bullshit abilities wasn’t the best way to get him to go back to sleep, but it was fun to watch. I could see the lights in his head getting brighter and his brain whirling faster as he perked up, pleased with himself. “It would help me remember how to put your health first. You’re the most important thing to me.”
And something flashed in his brain.
“The most important thing...more important than sleep or being sticky...yes...” Knox’s eyes were blinking and his head was nodding but no one real was home. His brain was completelylost to the imaginary people who popped up and lived whole lives there. “That’s very...he’s important...”
It didn’t mean anything to me, but I knew in a few weeks his readers would be living out whatever he was seeing in that moment.
“He’s important like you.” Knox was looking at me but I wasn’t sure it was me he was seeing...not completely, anyway. “He loves his Master like I love you, but they just show it badly. So, not like you. You love me and you take care of me, but his Master...well, they’re slightly unhealthy.”
Those were his favorite types of relationships, so I wasn’t surprised.
“That’s okay. You have healthy right here.” Giving him a kiss before his body wandered off with his brain, I fought back another smile as he nodded absentmindedly. “And I love hearing about all the unhealthy people in your head.”
That earned me a sweet, slightly distracted smile. “You like my books and my characters. You know them better than I do.”
His eyes cleared for a moment and he gave me a soft kiss before pulling back again. “I have a new one for you. He’s very naughty and I have to go write him down before he escapes. His Master is drugging him every night.”
That had me raising one eyebrow, but Knox shrugged.
“He knows what’s happening but there’s that whole unhealthy thing.” Sighing, Knox shook his head. “Some people just don’t appreciate healthy relationships.”
“But we do.” I gave him one last peck before he sat up like I knew he would. “Are you going to go write his story for me?”
Knox gave me a beaming smile. “It’s going to be so good. I’ll be right back, though.”
He seemed to believe his own lie as he nodded excitedly. “I just have to start it while I can feel you and I ache and I’m sticky. Then I’ll be right back.”
Bullshit.
It was complete and utter bullshit.
“Okay.” I nearly laughed as he climbed out of the bed, sticky ass and all. “But grab a towel from the closet as you go downstairs. You won’t like having a dirty chair later.”
“Oh.” Blinking, Knox looked at me like I was a genius. “You take such good care of me. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Finally chuckling as he hurried out the door, naked and walking like an old man because of all the aches, I shook my head and smiled. “I love you.”
He was going to need a hot shower and some ibuprofen later.
