“Huh,” Aldrin said. “She’s right.”
That made Posy giggle. The sound reached right under my ribs and tugged at my heart. “You have a beautiful laugh,” I said, feeling my cheeks heat up as hers turned red.
“Thank you. What trips do you guys have coming up?”
We talked to her about our life. Traveling. Hiking. Camping. Everything in between. We kept busy but in a way that wasn’t mentally exhausting. Our lifestyle was good for the mind and body.
The business side of it, maybe a bit tedious but our passion that made us money, and how could we not be grateful for that.
“What about you?” I asked. “We know about us. Please, tell us more about yourself.”
“Oh.” Her eyes had ticked to something off camera more than once. My bear growled a bit every time.
Was she looking out for something?
Was someone watching her?
She also wrung her hands every time we asked her something about her life. My gut instinct said she wanted out of there as soon as possible.
My heart sank. What if she wasn’t our mate but instead was desperate for any connection that would remove her from her current situation?
“Well, I do a lot of work on the lands. I have an online degree but haven’t had a chance to use it. I’m good at pack jobs.” Her voice faded away every time she said the word pack.
I had to ask. “You’re human, right?”
She nodded. “I am.”
“But you live with a wolf pack.”
Another nod.
“What else do you like to do? Where would you like to visit?”
The subject of the wolf pack she lived with seemed a sore one.
“Would you like to meet us, Posy? Train. Plane. Car. Whatever you prefer.” Aldrin’s offer caught me by surprise. Yeah, I liked her, really liked her, but this was all moving so fast. Not for me but probably for her. She was human and they didn’t move so fast, and in the movies, when they did, it was usually a disaster.
“Yes.” The relief in her tone was palpable. It made my heartbeat trip up.
“I wish we could bring you here to Iceland, but we are leaving soon. We’ll go back home for a week or so and then we’ll be…”
She finished for us. “On the road?”
We all chuckled. “Yes. On the road.”
“Could I maybe fly over there when you are home? For that week. It would be short but at least we would get to meet each other.”
A week seemed like not enough time at all to get to know someone and for her to get to know three of us, but we had a career and were launching this new series of videos.
What else could we do?
Aldrin nodded. “We can arrange that. The trip is on us. We’ll be in touch and arrange everything.”
“Are you sure? I have some money saved up.”
Judah scooted closer to the edge of the sofa. If she was here, he would do that too. This temporary home we were living in would be quieter without her voice warming us all up. “It’s what we do, Posy. We’ll send you all the details. Let us know if anything doesn’t work for you.”
“Okay. Thank you. Is it wrong that I’m fangirling a little bit?”
