He shook his head. “Nah, I don’t like too many people in my face.”
I nodded, moving in his direction. “So, we’re playing pool?”
“Yep, are you any good at it?” he quizzed.
“Very good.”
“That’s good to know. So let’s make this interesting, baby.”
My grin grew. “I’m listening.”
“I win and you move in with me. You win and you still move in with me.”
He caught me by complete surprise with that statement because I wasn’t aware that he even wanted me to move in.
“You spend more time at my spot than your own. My home is your home, so why not?” He must’ve picked up on my confusion.
“And you want me to move in with you and Junior?”
He closed the space between us, pulling my body into him. “You already live with me, Killa. Just not officially. I wanna make it that way, can I?”
“Considering you just said win or lose I move in, I feel like I don’t have much of a choice, do I?”
“You always have a choice, as long as the choice you make involves me.” He then lowered his head and kissed me. “Now come on and let me tap that ass.”
“I don’t know about that, but you can definitely try.”
For the next couple hours we played, talked, and ate, basking in the comfort of one another’s company. It was nice and definitely something I wasn’t used to given that before him I had never allowed anyone close. Now here I was, moving in with him…and his son. This time I was doing more than creating a routine. I was creating and settling into a life with a man who didn’t want to change me. He just wanted to be with me and made that clear every single day.

Junior was attached to Liora at the hip from the moment he laid eyes on her. If I wasn’t mistaken, I’d think he had a lil crush. When he met her at my mama’s house, he climbed into her lap and kept touching her braids. Now we were home and he was sitting in her lap while she took her braids down.
“No lie, Junior, I hate to hurt your lil feelings, but that one right there belongs to me. You gonna find somebody in a few years, but that right there is me, lil homie.”
Liora chuckled while Junior didn’t pay me any attention. He continued staring at the TV like I hadn’t said a damn thing. Not only that, I could tell by the lowness of his eyelids that he was about to be asleep very soon.
“Leave him alone, he’s fine.” Liora waved me off and looked up at the TV. They were watching the secondMoana. They’d spent last night watching the first one before he fell asleep. The singing from these movies was enough to put anyone to sleep.
“Yeah, aight. Let me get him ready for bed anyways. He’s already eaten and it’s eleven in the evening.”
She shook her head. “You do that. I’m about to take a shower.”
I reached down and picked Junior up, carrying him to the room I deemed would be his in the house. I’d put the bed I purchased together this morning because last night would be the last time I shared a bed with his lil cock blocking ass.
I knew having him full-time would take some getting used to, as he was a three-year-old who required a lot, but he deserved that much.
Once I had him down, I stood there watching him sleep, knowing I had my hands full but I’d rise to the occasion. I had to, because even though I didn’t regret anything I did, I’d still taken his mother from him. Though she deserved it, I realized now what he would miss even though he had my mother.
My thoughts were interrupted by a vibration in my pocket. I pulled the phone out before I flipped the light switch in his room. For the most part, he slept through the night, so I wasn’t worried about him waking.
Lee’s name was on the caller ID. I swiped and immediately mashed the phone against my face.
“Yeah.” I moved through the house into my bedroom where I heard the shower going from the master bathroom.
“I have a name and location for you. Felix Morrow and he lives near Printer’s Row in Chicago. South Loop, I heard it’s real nice that way.”
