Aurelian breathed out. The webbing felt unnecessarily tight. “Merde…it’s been almost ten years.”
“Thirty seconds,” said the pilot.
“Like falling off a bike.” Marc laughed.
“Let’s hope not,” returned Aurelian. “That shit fucking hurts.” He squirmed a little in his seat.
Marc observed wryly, “For someone who loves to tie people up,mon ami…”
Then a roaring filled Aurelian’s ears, a wall of sound that drove away thought. The team was squashed flat into their seats as the cutter accelerated, swiftly picking up the speed it needed to escape Tarma’s gravity.
