“You keep using that term,” Aria said, “and I keep nodding like I know what it means. What on Palamarisa Faraday cage?”
Jack settled himself against a pillow and kept stroking her hair. “Think of it like a four-walled room made of energy. It surrounds the brig and keeps all forms of electronic radiation inside. The signal coming from the device in your leg just bounces off the energy walls.”
Aria examined her left thigh. “So strange to imagine that there’s something in there that I can’t see or feel, doing all this. Hold on. Doesn’t the cage let out signals when you come in and out?”
“In the old cages, it would,” said Jack. “But the modern version is pure energy. Even when the brig door is open, the energy cage still holds. Anyone can just walk in and out.”
“I wish I could,” sighed Aria. “But I know that would defeat the whole purpose. What are we going to do? I don’t want to stay inside here forever.”
“That’s what we’ve been working on while I’ve been gone,” he assured her. “We’re less than eleven hours from Tarma. I’ve talked to my sister, and they should have something ready by the time we get there. Madeline is putting her best people on it. Then we’ll get you to the Pleasure House’s med facilities, and get that thing out of you.”
“I can’t wait for it to finally be gone.” She rubbed at her leg.
“There’s more.” He told her what Giles had discovered—her adoption, and the sudden massive improvement in the Comber family’s fortunes.
“It’s all so strange,” she confessed. “Since you’ve been gone, all I can think about is that my family isn’t…well,my family. That my real father is someone I’ve never known.”
“I’m sure your parents always loved you,” he reassured.
“Did they though? I’ve always been the outsider in my family. My father treated me like a second-class citizen.”
“Well, we may get answers on that,” he told her. “Giles has been working steadily away on finding out.”
“That’s a funny thought,” she mused, “imagining that huge man researching on a computer. It makes me think of adrughwith a laptop.”
Jack laughed. “Trust me, there’s more to Giles than meets the eye.”
“Apparently. So, Mad Jack,” murmured Aria, a gleam in her eye, “how on Palamar are we going to keep me distracted and busy for so many hours?”
“I have some thoughts on that.” He slid lower. “Now lay your head back, my darling, and let me put them into action.”
“Mmm…” sighed Aria, resting her head on a pillow and stretching out languorously. “Carry on, Captain.”
Jack positioned himself between Aria’s thighs and gently moved the smock away, revealing the glories of her naked body which lay beneath.
“I quite like this smock, you know,” he said in a low tone. “I may have you wear this all the time.”
“But, Jack, I’m wearing nothing underneath,” replied Aria in mock dismay.
“Exactly,” growled Jack, moving his head to the apex of her thighs. He gently kissed her mons and the tops of her thighs.
“I like where this is going,” said Aria contentedly.
“Be quiet, young lady, and don’t distract me from my work. Now, open your legs for me.”
Moisture pooled inside of her as she parted her thighs. “Yes, sir,” she breathed.
“Good girl.”
Jack inhaled the scent of her arousal, before dipping his head to use his tongue to gently tease at her labia.
Aria inhaled sharply as she focused on the sensations the pirate was bringing her.
Jack moved upward to Aria’s clit, gently circling and pressing with the tip of his tongue.
“Ohh…” Aria sighed, biting her bottom lip.
With his thumbs, Jack gently parted her labia, allowing his tongue to penetrate her core, lapping at the honey Aria was producing.
