She shakes her head. “You know what, never mind. Let’s just leave it at that. I’m not hungry anymore, so order whateveryou want,” she huffs, setting her drink down and turning away from me. I watch her storm into the house, knowing she’s hurt and hating that she has assumed that of me. I’ll give her a little while to calm down, then maybe I can try to explain to her about Jaco being there.

Even though there will be a full house, I still don’t think she’s safe around him.

I order the seafood platter, and when it arrives, I dish up a plate for her and carry it to her room.

Knocking on the door, I push it open and step inside to find her asleep on her bed.

Sighing softly, I gently brush my fingers over her cheek.

I’ll let her rest now and talk to her in the morning.

On Saturday morning, when I wake up disappointed that Blair didn’t sleep in my bed last night, the first thing I want to do is talk to her and explain things.

I walk past her bedroom, seeing it’s empty, then head down to the kitchen, expecting to find her making coffee.

But she’s not there; instead, I find a note on the kitchen counter.

Gone out shopping with Talia. We might go for lunch/early dinner and cocktails after. Not sure when I’ll be home. Enjoy your day.

Blair.

Dammit. She must be really angry if she called Talia to spend the day with her to escape me. But it’s okay. This will begood for her. They get on well, and some shopping and girl time will be a good distraction for her while I go to the gala.
