She slicked her tongue over her bottom lip several times, and his eyes followed it like a cat chasing a laser pointer. “Did I get it?”
“No, it’s right…” He was leaning even closer now, so close she had to cross her eyes. “… here.”
His mouth latched onto her upper lip, and then he was kissing her. Those soft pillowy lips felt like heaven as Jake claimed her mouth. Olivia leaned into him, wrapping her hands around the back of his neck. That was all the permission he needed. Jake’s arms wrapped around her shoulders, pressing her into his chest. His tongue slipped between her lips, stroking and exploring the inside of her mouth. A soft moan escaped her throat. Dear God, the man could kiss.
“Get a room!” shouted a cousin amid raucous laughter. Jake broke the kiss, staring down at her in shock.
“I’m sorry … I didn’t mean to … shit.” He turned his head and started to pull away.
She turned his face back to her. He’d lit a fire inside her, and there was only one way to put it out. “I think they have the right idea.” It’d been ages since she’d been with anyone, and she wasn’t going to overthink it. Whether they ended up dating for real or not, Olivia was a woman that went after what she wanted. And tonight, that was Jake.
He blinked at her, stunned speechless. “But, your parents …”
“Sleep at the other end of the house, and they sleep very soundly.”
He still hesitated.
“Look, everyone here thinks we’re together anyway. No matter what we decide later, I don’t think it’ll hurt to see where this goes.” Then a sobering thought hit her. “Unless you didn’t enjoy that as much as I did.”
His gaze burned and dropped to her lips. “I definitely did, Princess. But I promised you no funny business and I’m a man of my word.”
“Something tells me there’s going to be nothing funny about this.” She leaned right into his ear. “Give me a five-minute head start, and I’ll meet you in my bedroom.” He nodded. She took her wine and headed for the deck and its French doors into the house.
