Her mouth dropped open and he took the opportunity to claim her mouth again.

Damnthe man could kiss. Apparently last night had been amazing for both of them. Olivia’s heart soared at the realization. When they finally broke away from each other, she lingered in his arms.

“We should get back.” She forced the words out.

“Yeah,” he croaked, then kissed her again quickly. “So, I can see you again?”

Olivia laughed as she extracted herself from his sweaty embrace. “You fuckingbetter.” She took off at a run. “Race you!”

“Hey! No fair!”

Olivia giggled as he caught up to her. She was sweaty, and elated, and she really wanted to grab a shower before her mom finished cooking breakfast.

Back at the house, Olivia pushed Jake toward the hall bathroom. “No, we can’t shower together at my parents’ house. Besides, this will be faster so we can get to breakfast.”

“Another time, then.” He gave her a suggestive wink as he shouldered his bag and disappeared into the main bath. She hurried through her own shower, dressed, and packed, then opened her door to find Matt in the doorway.

“Morning, Bro. I was just on my way downstairs.”

“Where did you go last night?”

She cringed. “I was tired, so I left the reunion early.”

He raised an eyebrow at her. “Try again,Sis.”

She crossed her arms across her chest and glared. “What is your silence going to cost me,littlebro?”

One corner of his mouth pulled up. “A favor. One I reserve the right to call in at any point.” He jabbed his finger in her direction. “Not just for covering up what you did, but for leaving me holding the bag last night as host. Youoweme.”

“Fine.” She spat the word out like they were teens again, instead of grown-ass adults. “Can I go downstairs for my blueberry pancakes now?”

He moved to the side and bowed, gesturing for her to lead. Rolling her eyes, Olivia marched past him and headed for the kitchen.

Jake was already downstairs, a stack of pancakes and a pile of bacon on his plate. Sven was reading the Sunday paper and Anna was manning the griddle. “Livvy! How many pancakes do you want, dear?”

“Two should be good.”

“Your mom makes the best pancakes.” Jake grinned around a mouthful of pancakes.

She snickered. “I know. Fill up now, and we won’t have to stop for lunch.”

Jake nodded his agreement as a plate of pancakes and bacon landed in front of her. Matt had come down as well, and true to his word, his face was an impassive mask. He’d keep their secret.

Not like he hadn’t snuck his share of girls into their house, she was sure.

“Coffee?” Her mom held an open mug next to the coffee pot.

“Yes, please.”

“Can you guys stay a little while? We barely see you, Livvy.”

Olivia swallowed pancakes and her guilt. She really wanted to get home to her cat and so she could explore these new feelings with Jake. But she couldn’t really tell her mom that.

“Unfortunately, I have an early call at the studio tomorrow. Like four a.m. early.” Olivia blinked at Jake, stunned. Being the talent sure had its disadvantages.

“That sounds brutal. Well, we’re awfully happy to meet you. So nice of Livvy to bring someone home for once.”

“It was nice to meet you, too.” Jake gave her a quizzical look behind her mom’s back. She felt her face turn beet red and just shook her head. She could explain later.
