“How long have I been asleep?” I asked groggily. The last thing I remembered was his face between my legs.

“Not long enough. Go back to sleep, Toni,” he said as he pressed his lips to my forehead. The next thing I knew, the sun was up, and I was waking up in my bed alone to the smell of breakfast being cooked. I drug myself up, took a shower, handled my hygiene, and brushed my hair into a ponytail. Chase had done his best to put a bonnet on my head, but by that point my press was done for. I stumbled into the kitchen, and sat at the table, resting my head on my arms because I damn near felt hungover.

“Damn, about time you got up,” he chuckled as he flipped potatoes in a pan.

“Where did you get this food from?” I asked. I wasn’t expecting company and my fridge wasn’t stocked. I planned to eat the leftovers from our double date from hell for breakfast, but thanks to Tahmir’s hot-headed ass, and his gun, we got swept away before we could even pack our shit up. I couldn’t even be mad because ending up on a double date with a pair of twins who were clearly in love with each other wasnotmy proudest moment. My self-proclaimed hoe phase was way shorter than I expected.

“I went to the store on the way back from the gym. You didn’t have shit in there but some grapes and leftover Chinese food,” he fussed as he put a plate of food down in front of me.

“Gym? Grocery store? You just comfortable as hell up in my city, huh?” I asked with a smirk.

“I should be. My girl lives here, so I plan on spending a lot of time here.”

“Chase,” I started, but he promptly shut me up, stuffing a biteof food in my mouth. I frowned as the buttery eggs literally melted on my tongue.

“I don't give afuckwhat you talkin’ bout Amaya. We don't have to go public until you're ready, but as far as I'm concerned, you're my woman.”

“You didn't even ask me!” I argued through another mouthful of eggs.

“And I'm not going to. If you think I'm giving your scary ass the slightest chance to run from me, you got me fucked up. Either you're my girlfriend, I'm your man, or we're getting married. Take your pick.”

“I had no idea that you werethiscrazy.” I laughed as I stared at him, long and hard.

“That a problem, Toni?” he asked with a smirk of his own.

“No… It's kinda turning me on.” My eyes narrowed in on him sitting there in only a pair of shorts and his gold chain.

“I told you that yo’ ass was crazy.”

“And you’re one to talk,” I teased while I stuffed my face. “Stalking me, showing up here, then bullying me into a relationship.”

“You forgot the part where I ate that pussy until you cried,” he replied before planting a kiss to my forehead as I cut my eyes at him. I couldn’t even argue because he did just that. We talked about nothing as we ate our brunch, and I just sat there watching him in awe as he washed dishes and cleaned up the kitchen.

My phone rang and for the first time, and I realized that I had left it on the living room table all night. I was so busy being treated like a buffet, that I hadn’t even missed it. I missed the call, but quickly called Mona back because I knew her ass was thinking the worst. She picked up on the first ring and immediately went into the dramatics.

“Hello?”

“Are you alive?! May, I called you three times last night! Please don’t tell me that I let Chase know where you stay, and he donechopped your ass up! You know your parents will KILL me!” I laughed so hard that my eyes teared up. Like I said before, dramatic.

“How would I be dead if I’m talking to you?! I’m fine. Bitch, areyougood? I know that man had you singing like a Southern Baptist choir last night!

“Me? I know Chase's big ass turned you every way but loose!”

“And did!” I teased with my tongue out.

“I knew it! So… what are y’all?” she asked anxiously. I chuckled. Her lovesick ass wanted me to be like hersobad! I could already see her trying to set up double dates, game nights, all that other shit.

“According to him, he’s my man or whatever,” I murmured with fake annoyance. The squeal she let out almost made me hang up on her.

“Oh my God! I’m so excited for you!”

“Calm down! But yeah. You and Tahmir good?”

“Girl… Yes,” she said breathlessly like she was having flashbacks of her toes curling.

“Ayeee!” I said, doing a happy dance. “I mean the man apologized via billboard—thathadto do the trick!

“Girl! That’s why I tried to call you last night! Why did this nigga buy me a Camaroanda G-Wagon?”
