She stops right in front of me, so close she has to tip her head back to see my face. She reaches up, her hand curving around my jaw, warm and certain, and I feel her rise onto her toes like she's about to kiss me.
Then she turns her head at the last second and presses her mouth to Perrin's instead.
Perrin makes a sound against her lips that is half surprised and half moan.
I laugh softly, loving how completely, effortlessly playful she is.
It’s like she was made for us.
Unable to keep my hands to myself, I grip Elowen’s hips and move her slowly, walking her forward. Elle keeps kissing Perrin, pushing him back until his shoulders meet the door with a soft thud.
Pressed between us, Elowen breaks the kiss with Perrin long enough to glance back at me over her shoulder. Those dark, luminous eyes narrow, and the look on her face sends heat straight through me.
My chest rests on her back, my hands spreading wide across her hips. She hums and turns back to Perrin, her hands sliding back up into his hair, and Perrin's head drops back against the door as she pulls him down to her mouth again.
My hand slips up her tight shirt, palming one breast, feeling her pebbled nipple through the thin fabric of her bra. Elowen arches into my hand, and Perrin makes a low, rough sound against her mouth, and I can only imagine what she’s doing to him.
I lower my head to the curve of her neck, my lips finding my mating bite, and?—
Knock, knock, knock.
We all go still.
"Cliff." Adam's voice comes through the door, low and tight, telling me something is wrong.
Every alpha instinct I have snaps to attention at once.
“There’s someone here to see you.”
The Office
Elowen
“There’ssomeone here to see you.” Adam's hushed voice comes through the office door. Cliff suddenly goes still against my back. It's like someone flipped a switch inside the alpha.
Then I feel it through our bond.
A cold spike of worry. It’s there and gone in less than a second, reeled back so fast I almost convince myself I imagined it.
"Stay behind me." Cliff steps back from me, zipping his pants and straightening his shirt.
Perrin grabs my arm and pulls me to one side, pressing us both flat against the wall so Cliff has a clear path to the door.
Then he opens it.
I quickly smooth down my shirt, take one breath, and follow Cliff.
The shop floor opens up around us, hot and stuffy. Raffis at the workbench, but he's not looking at the battery anymore. He's looking at the man standing right inside the bay doors, his hands in his pockets and his dark eyes moving over the shop.
Anton.
My stomach drops the second I see him.
It's involuntary and immediate, the same cold rush that hit me at the apartment. I know rationally that Anton isn't a threat to me here. Even if he has figured out that I’m an omega, he can’t exactly do anything about it. I'm mated, and surrounded by my pack. A group of men who would put themselves between me and anyone that dared to even threaten me.
But old habits are hard to break.
"Elowen," Anton says with a small dip of his head.
