Dear Carla,

I’m so pleased it all got worked out.

Regarding the camel humps, I have managed to stealthily get it out of Clare that the one she rode had one hump.

Best wishes,

Sophie

Dear Sophie,

How did you manage to get that information from Clare about the camel humps “stealthily”?

My colleagues and I are dying to know!

Best wishes,

Carla

Dear Carla,

Clare is currently under the impression that I am doing an evening course in zoology.

She’s already messaged me twice, the first time asking if tortoises make good pets, and the second time wanting toknow if it’s possible she just saw a toucan fly over her head in Covent Garden.

It’s going to be an interesting lie to keep up, but all worth it for the camel cake surprise!

Best wishes,

Sophie

CHAPTER TWELVE

The Monday after the Delgado wedding, I get a phone call that makes my heart soar.

It’s the PA of world-famous photographer Clio Vaughn. They received my message and Clio would be happy to schedule a meeting. I agree on a date, time, and place with the PA and then, when he hangs up, I punch the air in victory, dancing on the spot around my office (cupboard) and almost banging my head on the corner of the bookshelf.

After extensive research, I discovered that Cordelia had bought some original work by Clio and been recently photographed at an exhibition of hers. I deduced she must be a fan. I sent an email to Clio’s PA on the off chance that she might consider photographing the wedding of Lady Cordelia Swann. I said that I appreciated that Clio might not be interested in a wedding, but that of course this wasn’t just any wedding and Lady Cordelia was a huge admirer of her work.

I didn’t think I’d get a reply, but the Swann family name carries weight and it’s caught Clio’s interest, especially since she’s currently working in London. Emily Taylor will be meeting Clio Vaughn at the Dorchester at 11:00A.M.next Friday.

The confirmation comes through on email and I quickly reply thanking the PA, careful to sign off as Emily. Because of the magnitude of this wedding and the importance of keeping up Emily’s identity, I’d created a separate email account. EmilyTaylor definitely needs her own for all these strange requests she’s sending out. The meeting with the photographer is a win, but so far Emily’s emails to Liam Gallagher’s manager have gone unanswered.

When I’ve finished responding to Clio’s PA, I close my laptop and pick out what to wear for when I see Cordelia, Jonathan, and Lady Meade today. They have an appointment with a London florist, and Lady Meade thinks it’s best I accompany them.
