“Of course.” I threw her a wink and she smiled.

Spending time with Yani had become one of my favorite pastimes. She could make my day go faster and smoother just by feeling her presence. She was my new comfortability.

I found myself questioning whether what I felt for her was real at times because of how comfortable she made me feel. Our attachment to one another had grown from being a beneficial partner to a partner I couldn’t see myself without.

Thalia still had a place in my heart, but it was clear that Yani was moving in and settling down. I developed feelings for her quickly, but they were ones I was sure about. I knew the effects she had on me.

When I couldn’t go a day without thinking about her, I knew then we were locked in. My thoughts were always surrounding her. Mostly how her smile brightened my day or how her voice was so angelic. She was consuming more than my body.

“I got us something light. A few salads from Caesars Palace.”

“I can get with that. I like that ring you got on. Where it come from?”

“It’s just a part of my jewelry.”

“That’s cool, it’s just I never seen it before, nor do you wear rings like that, Yani.”

“I have a lot of jewelry that I don’t wear often. I was in the mood and decided to put it on. Do you want the receipts to my purchases Paxton?”

She was getting smart with me and that was a first. I asked a simple question and got a snappy response in return. It wasn’t even that serious.

“You doing too much, but I won’t ask again. Let’s just eat because I have a lot to get done today.”

An awkward silence formed, and we sat eating without acknowledging the others presence. That quick we fell into a rut. I didn’t know what to expect afterward.

She finished before I did and started to clean up after herself still not saying a word. I wasn’t the nigga that allowed their woman to walk away feeling anything other than happy and satisfied.

“Come here beautiful.”

“I’m about to get out of your hair, Pax. It seems you have a busy day, and I already took enough of your time.”

“I’m not repeating myself, Yani.”

She gave me a glare that I didn’t flinch from. Yani didn’t intimidate me. I loved her passion behind her character, but I wasn’t easily moved. When I didn’t budge, she kissed her teeth, and rolled her eyes. However, she took that stride in my direction.

“What Pax?”

I pulled her down onto my lap bringing her face toward mine. Our lips connected and my tongue quickly parted hers. They couldn’t help but dance. The kiss was so enthusiastic I was hoping it wiped away her attitude.

“Drop this sass. That’s not how we rock. I asked a question from a curiosity. It is what it is baby. It’s nice and it looks good on you.”

“Thank you. I wasn’t trying to argue either or create this tension.”

“Then let it go. We’re good. I do have a lot of work I need to get done though. That statement wasn’t to brush you off.”

“I get it. I saw the pile of files on your desk when I arrived. I’ll go and talk to you later on.”

“I’ll hit you when I’m home and settled.”

She stood, giving me another sensual kiss before sashaying across the floor. I eyed her every move. She was indeed a physical flawless woman. It made no sense how her ass jiggled so effortlessly.

“Bye handsome man. I love you.”

I was too stunned to speak, and her steps stopped once she realized what she let slip off her tongue. It seemed as if the world was at a standstill. She hurriedly opened the door and tried to take off.

“What did you just say?”

She ignored my inquiry and left me to think on it alone. I was trying to process what she said but my desk phone began to ring catching my attention.
