“That makes sense!” Emmy joined in. “You’re going to come back mutated or something.”
Ryan burst out laughing, trying to imagine a mutated version of Ramona González. “You probably won’t need your glasses then. You’ll miraculously have perfect vision again,” he said.
Poppy turned and shot him a playful look, and he melted. She looked so good sitting on his carpet right now; she looked like she belonged there.
“Wait, it gets better.” Poppy pointed to the screen again. “Keep watching.”
Ryan watched as Poppy’s character stumbled out of the laboratory and back down the corridor. Suddenly, someone jumped in front of her and pushed her to the ground.
“Who is that?” Emmy asked.
“That’s Santiago Alvarez’s wife, Esmée. She also wants to kill Ramona because she’s just found out that her husband has changed his will and is leaving everything to her, including the company.”
“I know what you’re trying to do with my husband!” The woman bellowed. “I know the two of you are planning a secret romantic trip to the Amalfi coast—personally I prefer the Riviera.”
“I love your husband,” Poppy’s character shouted.
“You just like his money, don’t think I haven’t noticed all those new handbags and jewels you’re wearing. You could never afford a Cartier necklace on your own. I should strangle you with it now!” She made a grab for the necklace and Poppy jumped out of the way; she rolled across the floor and then, out of nowhere, she swung around and kicked Esmée. A perfect roundhouse kick like the one she’d used on her door.
“I’m a black belt,” Poppy’s character said suddenly.
Ryan burst out laughing.
“I’m going to kill you,” the woman said, as she lay on the floor.
A dart suddenly flew through the air and hit her between the eyes.
Poppy’s character gasped. “Seems like someone else is going to kill you first, Esmée.”
Suddenly, Ignacio, the evil twin, stepped out of the shadows. “Hello, Esmée,” he whispered.
“It’s you,” she gasped. “But I thought your plane crashed.”
“Of course you did, since you were the one that sabotaged it and wanted me gone so you could have all the money and the company, you greedy witch.”
Ryan burst out laughing again. “Another twist!”
“I’m dying,” Poppy’s character said and then started running again.
“You’re running again, but you’re dying!” Ryan said.
And then suddenly, out of nowhere, a massive explosion filled the air and the show ended.
“The entire laboratory exploded because of the radioactive breach in the containment field,” Poppy explained quickly.
“Containment field? You don’t say!” Ryan smiled down at her, and she smiled back.
“Wow! That was amazing.” Emmy looked over at Poppy. “I mean, that was the coolest thing I have ever seen. That was so awesome. I can’t believe you did that!”
“It’s very popular in Nigeria. All my friends and family are watching it,” Tamlin said.
Poppy burst out laughing. “I still can’t believe that. It’s so bad.”
“I’d watch it if they brought you back,” Ryan said.
“But I’m so bad in it. You saw me!”
“No, you’re not,” Tamlin and Emmy both said at the same time.
