but he stops, his hands gripping the doorway tightly above his head, and pins Janey with a look. “He

should be opening the door for you.”

She tilts her head, brow furrowing in confusion. “I’m sorry?”

He clenches his jaw and spells it out. “Any man you’re dating should open the door for you. Your

man doesn’t even get out of the car when he picks you up.”

“Oh,” she breathes, fussing with the hem of her silky grey t-shirt. “Well, he’s in a hurry.”

Jonas closes his eyes and swallows. When he opens them, he pins her in place with his stare.

“You’re worth waiting for, Janey. If you were mine, I would open the fucking door,” then he’s gone.

“Oh my god,” Cara says, fanning herself.

I pull the neckline of my dress away from my skin. “Is it just me, or was that totally…”

“Hot?” Cara says. “Yeah, that was scorching. If I didn’t love Declan so much, I would be all over

that. Jonas is a fucking catch. And that intensity in bed? Gawd!” She shakes her head. “The man is a

watching it from across the room. I love this new life.

“Zach opens the door for me,” I say, shifting my gaze to Janey. “Even when he was grumpy, he

always did. It’s a courtesy I appreciated. When he does it now...then smiles at me when I walk

through. I love it.”

“I don’t touch a door handle anytime Declan’s with me.” Cara purses her lips, “Or any of the

brothers, come to think of it. Ransom raised those boys right.”

Janey, breaking free of her paralysis, stares down at the floor. “Yes, he did.” She looks up with a

tumultuous smile. “Well, I should be off. Have a great weekend.”

Cara puts her hand on Janey’s arm as she passes. “You deserve a man who treats you like a Queen

Janey. You deserve someone who opens doors and makes you feel like you’re the most beautiful

woman in the world.”

Janey smiles sadly. “Maybe. But not every woman is going to find that. Some of us have to settle
