Abby’s face. There’s no getting out of this. So I paste a stiff smile on my face and push through the
back door to the parking area, expecting to find Zack’s driver, Luis. He’s been put on call for us, and
honestly, I love it. I hate ride shares. There are too many chatty drivers. What happened to just
ignoring each other?
I miss those days.
I run into Abby’s back with an “oomph.” Lifting my head, I see exactly why she stopped. Coming
across the parking lot from the loading dock is every one of our bosses, even Micah. A shirtless Zach
and Kade are leaning on each other, giggling. All of them are laughing, and with the exception of
Jonas, walking with a loose, awkward gait.
“Oh my god,” Abby says gleefully, “they’re shitfaced.” She pulls out her phone and starts taking a
video. I snatch it and shove it into my pocket. She turns and pins me with a thunderous scowl.
“Don’t you scowl at me. What exactly are you planning to do with that video?”
She drops the attitude and smiles innocently, but I can see the gleam of evil in her eye. A shudder
runs down my back, and I pull out the phone, making sure she sees me delete the video. I hand it over
and glare at her until she shoves it into her pocket with a scowl.
“Hellooo,” Nick calls, waving at us. We wave back as the rest of the guys start waving, too. I go
to lower my hand, and they look so crushed that I raise it and keep waving. Now we’re stuck in this
weird waving loop, and I have no idea how to get out of it.
Thankfully, a bird with a death wish flies between them, making a few of the men shriek, some
laugh, and all of them except Jonas drop into a crouch.
“Are you the only sober one?” I call.
He nods, then turns his gaze back to his brothers. “They’re quite embarrassing, but they aren’t that
drunk. They’ll sober up in an hour—“ Just then, Maverick tips backward onto the icy pavement,
pulling Zach over with him. They lay there giggling, and Jonas sighs and props his hands on his hips.
“Okay, maybe two hours.” He takes a few steps toward us, leaving his giggling brothers behind, and
eyes the SUV idling and a grinning Luis. “Where are you heading?”
Abby gives him a sunny smile. “Brash has made a significant donation to a rescue organization
here in town. We need to head over and present them with a check. And I’m planning on petting some
puppies.”
Jonas looks intrigued and asks her the name. “I’ll join you. Wait, a minute.” He jogs back to his
