“What happened? You know we’re dying to know,” Gemma added.

“Oh, uh…she just asked if she can stop by the farm after work on Tuesday and I replied, okay.”

Isaac was aghast. “What? Are you serious? After all that, that’s all you wrote? I take it back again. You’re not allowed to go after any of my cousins because you clearly have no game.”

“I’m trying to play it cool.” Wasn’t this the best course of action? After how their first conversation went, he wasn’t about to add further evidence that he was weird or awkward.

Isaac shook his head. “That might have been too cool.”

“Like I’m supposed to know the perfect balance between cool and too cool. I hate these games. Why can’t flirting be more like Settlers of Catan? Clear-cut rules where I can trade her a grain card for a date or something. Easy.”

“You need to invite her to board game night, honey.” Gemma put a game piece on the board. “I don’t want to be the Smurfette anymore.”

“You should have at least thrown an emoji in there or something,” Isaac said, blowing out an impatient breath.

Regardless of his lack of game, Mason had decided, when it came to the love game, he was ready to put his piece back on the board again.
