Penny glances up at me in surprise. I move into the room as Indy and Ryker follow me with the food, placing it on the table nearby as I kneel down beside Silver.

I watch him put the cream on one hand, so I take her other and start to cream it up as I ask, “Penny, what bandits?”

I see her swallow nervously before her eyes dance to Indy’s and back again. “When I was with Indy, we were sort of… ambushed by bandits.”

I glance over my shoulder at Indy, and order through clenched teeth, “Explain.”

He sighs before coming to sit on the bed behind Penny. He soothingly strokes one hand down her hair reassuringly and I glance at her face. I realize she might not be nervous about telling me as much as she is about reliving the events. What the fuck happened out there?

Indy sighs before he starts talking. “There was a group of them, I think there were eight in total. We had just stopped at a stream for a drink and they came out of nowhere. I started fighting them off after throwing Penny on my horse and telling her to ride to the village without stopping. But she didn’t listen.” Henarrows his eyes at her back and she looks down at her hands where we’re still covering them with the cream.

“Penny?” I ask, trying to dip my head to catch her eyes.

When she looks at me, I see sadness there. “Brax, I couldn’t leave him alone! I wouldn’t leave anybody alone in that situation. I thought I could help, but…”

Indy picks up the story for her. “But she was pulled away by three men. If it hadn’t been for that masked man… I don’t want to think about what would have happened to her.”

Masked man? What would have happened to her?

“What masked man?” Ryker asks from behind me.

“There was another man, not with the bandits. He wore a cape and a mask and right as one of the bandits was… trying to take off my pants, he swooped in and killed them all. When I saw Indy fighting four men, I asked the masked man to help him. And he did, but one of the bandits ran and he took off after him. We never saw him again.”

“Well, whoever he is, I’m thankful he was there to help,” Ryker says, sitting down beside her and throwing an arm over her shoulder to pull her into his side.

She rests her head on his shoulder as she whispers, “Me too, birdman.”

“Oh!” Penny says, sounding surprised as she sits up and looks down at her hands. A soft glowing light emanates from her palms and she stares at them in disbelief.

I have to admit, I haven’t seen any healing magic myself and it’s quite amazing to see it work. Especially when it’s helping my mate heal and relieve her pain.

We all stare silently at her hands and watch as they knit themselves back together. “This is incredible,” she whispers.

It doesn’t take long before the glow fades and she’s left with white cream coating her palms.

“Just rub your hands together to get rid of thecream. It’s just like lotion,” Silver tells her.

She does as he says and when she pulls them back, they look as good as new. “Wow.”

I grab one of them and turn it to me so I can inspect it. It looks flawless.

But my gaze moves to the rest of her body. Is she hurt somewhere else? I need to make sure she’s not injured anywhere.

“Silver, why don't we go grab some food,” Indy says as he stands and indicates the table with the food on the other side of the room. I think he must see the intense way that I’m staring at her right now. Good. She needs more mates that understand our need to care for her.

Placing my hand on her collarbone. I gently press her backwards until she falls to her back. “Brax, what are you doing?” she asks nervously as my hands move to her pants and I start undoing them.

“Need to make sure you’re okay,” I grumble, not even looking at her as I free her of her pants.

“Brax! We’re not alone in here!”

I glance over my shoulder to where Indy and Silver are standing at the other side of the room, watching with wide eyes.

“Do you want them to leave?”

“What?”

“They can stay and watch, if you want, Baby. Do you think you like to be watched?” I ask her, as I peel her shirt over her head and toss it to the side.
