I stopped her, wrapping my arm around her waist. She froze in my arms, just for a moment. “Kadence, please.”

I took a deep breath, and I couldn’t believe I was about to do this. She kissed Jae to piss me off, and it worked. Jae was lucky I didn’t put a bullet in her skull for touching what was mine. She wasn’t mine, but she could be. I could give up this desire of control and need to know who she was, and learn what she wanted to tell me. Control was only mine if she gave it to me. And she gave it to me when we shared our night together. I could have her, I just needed to do this.

Slowly, I dropped to my knees.

Her breath hitched as she peered down at me. “What are you?—”

“Didn’t you say the next time I touched you, I had to be on my knees, begging?” Her mouth opened before it closed again. “So, princess, this is me, on my knees. I’m…”An idiot? Vapid? A dumbass?“I am not used to feeling this. So please, Kadence. Let me touch you? Let me show you my apology?”

She nodded briefly before I picked myself up off the ground and wrapped my arm around her waist, slammed my lips to hers in a damning kiss. For half a second she froze, and then she leaned into it, like she was waiting for this moment as much as I was. Her fingers curled into my shirt, pulling me closer as I pushed her against the sink.

The kiss deepened, not soft or sweet, but desperate and angry. God, I missed her taste and the way she sounded. Her body fit perfectly with mine, and I wanted to bask in this feeling for eternity. This was what being alive felt like.

She broke it off before I could get lost forever, but her hands stayed on my chest and her forehead on mine. Her breathing was heavy, lips still close to mine as she tried to figure out the next move. And then she looked at me, fury and lust dancing together in her forest-green eyes.

Her hands dropped from me as she stepped to the side. “If you want me, then you choose me. Youreallychoose me. Nohiding. No fear. Just you. A confession needs action. I won’t wait forever, Blaize.”

And then she left me alone in silence.

CHAPTER 63

BLAIZE

Iwalked downstairs once the girls cleared out and found Hunter. “You haven’t found anything on her?”

Hunter shook her head. “I’m sure her name is fake if you think she’s hiding something, but why do you care so much?”

I arched my brow. “Do you remember what happened last time I let my guard down?” She was silent. She didn’t want to say it out loud, but I was already going to. “I can’t allow myself to get hurt again. You saw what happened.”

“You can’t let the past keep dictating your future, Blaize. You’ve been happier, even if you try to hide it behind your resting bitch face.”

“You know, sometimes I really hate you.”

She shrugged. “You can hate me all you want, but at the end of the day you know I’m right. What did you tell me the first time you met me?” I grimaced. I hated when she used my own advice against me. “Don’t let your demons take control. Listen to it. You like her. Why don’t you ask her out? Create something new with someone you can love.”

I let out a long sigh, looking at her. “How can I let go of Olivia? Or Charlee? They were my everything. The part of my soul that was still good.”

“You don’t let go. You make room for something new while remembering them. Kadence won’t make you forget just so you can love her. Given, right now she doesn’t know who they are, but you can show her.”

“Since when did you become Jiminy Cricket?”

“Since a badass babe on a bike stopped me from going down a wormhole and killing every member of a clergy,” she chimed. She’d grown a lot since that night. “Now, are you going to stop pestering me about Kadence’s history?”

“I don’t like being blind.”

“Let her in and she’ll tell you her story. Kadence reminds me of myself in every aspect, minus the killer part. I don’t think she could hurt anyone, something happened to her. That’s why she is here: she’s scared. When she feels safe with you, she’ll confess her trauma like a sinner in church. Like I did. Don’t force anything. I know the domme in you loves control, but with this, Kadence needs to tell you herself.”

I ran my hands through my hair. “Do you think she’ll go on a date with me?”

“She’s in love with you. I think she’ll be hesitant, trying to determine if it’s a joke or not, but yes. Now you just need to let yourself be vulnerable.”

“This is going to be a disaster, and I will blame you.”

Hunter laughed, standing up and walking towards the bar. “Or it could be one of the best things to happen to you.”

I was goingto regret this, but I couldn’t lie to myself anymore. Kadence was mine, and I would make her mine even ifit meant taking her on a date and learning her life. She made mefeel, and that terrified me. I found her at the bar, making a dozen tequila shots for a table of women. Her energy was off, and I knew it was my fault.

“Can we talk?” I asked.
