Amara stopped walking once they reached the stairs and turned toward him with sparkling eyes.
“Thank you for making this easy,” she said brightly.
Her voice was cheerful enough to make Elias’s jaw tighten.
She smiled sweetly.
Elias stared at her for a long second.
Then he gave her a tight smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
“You’re welcome,” he replied through clenched teeth.
Amara beamed at him like she hadn’t noticed the irritation practically radiating off him.
Then without another word, she turned around and practically skipped down the courthouse stairs.
Her heels clicked rapidly against the concrete as she hurried toward Jasper, who was waiting beside his car across the street.
Jasper’s face lit up instantly.
“YES!” he said, breaking into a wide, genuine grin.
He stepped forward quickly and gave her shoulders a firm shake of excitement..
“That’s what I’m talking about!” he said, laughing under his breath in relief. “Finally!”
His smile stayed on his face as he looked at the papers, then back at her.
“Congratulations!”
The two of them looked ridiculously happy standing there celebrating.
Meanwhile, Elias stood completely still watching them.
His gaze remained fixed on Amara’s smiling face.
She looked… genuinely happy.
Felix cautiously glanced sideways at Elias and almost winced.
The atmosphere around him was terrifying.
Elias’s brows slowly furrowed.
Then he turned toward Felix with visible confusion.
“Didn’t everyone say she is madly in love with me?”
