“Then I’m yours,” he says simply.

I don’t hesitate as I release my hold on his covers and throw myself into his arms.

I should want to take this slow. I should want to get to know him before we sleep together, but I don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

If something goes wrong, I don’t want to leave this world with any regrets, and I know I’ll regret it if I don’t reconnect with Christian like this.

Our lips crash together, and it’s like we’ve spent no time apart as our mouths move together. My body melts into his as I clutch at his shirt as if it’s a lifeline.

When we pull apart, we’re both panting as our eyes meet. “Are you sure, Luna?”

“I’ve never been more sure of anything,” I assure him.

His smile lights up his face as he pulls me back in for another kiss.

Our hands wander over each other’s bodies. His body is so familiar, yet different.

When I tug his shirt off, I find scars that weren’t there before. I pull away from the kiss, running my hands over the scars. At least two of them are gunshot wounds. The others are harder to tell, but I know what the life of someone in the cartel is like.

“How many times did you almost die before you found me again?”

“Too many.” His breath is shaky. “But I’m here now.”

I nod. “You are. Make love to me, Christian?”

He doesn’t answer with words as he lays me onto the bed and slowly removes my clothes. He sits back on his heels, taking in my naked form with awe on his face.

It’s a look I’m familiar with, even if he doesn’t remember it. It’s the same look he always wore when he saw me naked.

“Beautiful,” he murmurs, leaning down to close his lips around my nipple.

My back arches as he sucks on it, his fingers finding the other. His touch is both similar and foreign—reminding me he’s not quite the man I once loved. But I’m okay with that.

What matters is that we’ve found our way back to one another.

“Get naked,” I pant, digging my fingers into his scalp.

He chuckles against me, turning his head so he can stare up at me. “What if I want to taste you first?”

“Later,” I murmur, brushing my fingers through his silky hair—freezing when I feel the scars on the right side of his head.

“That’s from the gunshot and the subsequent surgeries,” he murmurs, starting to pull away, but I cling to him harder. “They’re ugly.”

“I guess it’s a good thing you have a thick head of hair then, huh?”

He snorts, shaking his head. “I guess so.”

I lift my brows, glancing down my body. “Why aren’t you naked?”

“I’m sorry, omega.” He grins as he sits up and unbuttons his pants. He shucks them with ease before removing his snug boxer briefs until he’s just as naked as I am.

My eyes immediately fall to his throbbing cock. He’s just as big as I remember, and I can’t wait to have it inside me once more. His knot is already inflating, and I can’t wait to feel it inside me. We hadn’t tried before I designated as an omega. Even after that, we held off. He was afraid he might hurt me, and we thought we had the rest of our lives together.

The thought sobers me.

“What’s wrong, Luna?” Christian tilts my chin until I meet his eyes.

I sigh. “I was just thinking about how you never knotted me. You wanted to wait, and we thought we had forever.”
