The black leather dress barely skimmed the tops of my thighs, and the zipper down the front kept sliding down to reveal enough cleavage to make a slutty she-wolf happy. The dress, paired with the thigh-high boots I’d found in the same box, guaranteed plenty of attention.

“It’s perfect.” Zane rested his hands on my shoulders and grinned at me in the mirror. His black hair curled over his shoulder, and he’d added some kohl to his eyes, highlighting how pale they were. My handsome incubus was the world’s sexiest goth, and I was here for it.

Tonight he wore tight leather pants to match my dress and a loose-fitting white shirt. If I looked closely, I could see his pierced nipples through the silky fabric, which made my mouth water. One day I would get my nipples pierced. It looked so cool.

“Yes, pet,” Zane purred. “I’m happy to pierce them for you.” Dammit. I needed to work on my shield. “We can pierce your clit too,” he added as he slid his hand under my leather mini dress.

“Oh my goddess! No!”

“No? It sure feels like you want me to.” A needy moan slipped out as he brushed through my wet folds and purred with satisfaction. The sound of footsteps made me shove Zane’s hand away before he could tear my panties off.

“Ready, little mate?” I turned to see my bear had changed into a pair of dark jeans and a pale blue shirt. He looked delicious with his neatly trimmed beard and tanned complexion. Like a sexy mountain man. I half wished he’d chosen to wear a lumberjack shirt, but it was too late to ask him now.

I hesitated.

Wearing such a short, tight dress made me self-conscious. Maybe other witches were comfortable showing off their assets, but I wasn’t. I preferred casual clothes, like jeans and sweats. This dress would have been more at home on the slinky siren we met when we first arrived.

My vampire appeared in the doorway from the second room. In the time it took me to blink, he was at my side.

“I can sense your uncertainty,” he said. “But you look beautiful.”

“I do?”

Maverick nodded. “He’s right, little mate. You are stunning.”

“Good enough to eat,” Zane agreed, managing, like always, to lower the tone.

Rasmus slipped his hand into the pocket of his tailored pants. I gasped when he pulled out a beautiful ruby on a thick gold chain. The gem sparkled as it caught the light.

“This was my mother’s,” he said. “And now it’s yours.”

My jaw dropped at the size of the stone. “That must be worth a fortune! I can’t possibly…” My voice trailed off as I contemplated what would happen if I lost it.

“You are my soul-bonded mate, which makes you my queen.”

Everyone fell silent. “But…”

“No buts. I might be the last of my kind, but you are still my queen.” He scooped my hair off the nape of my neck and fastened the pendant in place. It rested in the hollow of my throat, above my mother’s amulet, reminding me that not so long ago, he’d sunk his fangs into my throat and drunk my blood.

I shivered at the memory.

“The ruby is enchanted, my queen. When it’s around your neck, I will always be able to find you.”

“Like a GPS,” Kenji commented from his perch on the sofa. “Not very trusting of the vamp, but I approve.”

“I hardly think I’m going to get lost,” I huffed, as much to Kenji as to Rasmus.

“No, but given the demon attacks lately, the more protections you have, the better I’ll feel,” Maverick said.

Zane grabbed my hand and pulled me away from Rasmus. “Time to party, pet!”

Humans queued up for Heaven, a line of them snaking away from a large black door on the main street. Two men in gray shirts with earpieces checked IDs and let people in. I watched them on the camera from the lobby of Hell. Many of the women outside wore similar outfits to me, but some wore even less.

One girl stepped through the door in a gold bikini, matching boots, and a long leather coat. I shivered on her behalf; it was well below freezing out there.
