“Yeah, I think she’s in the office.”

“Thanks.”

“No problem. And can you let her know I’m about to close up,” Julian hollered over his shoulder.

Davis pushed through theEmployee Onlydoor that led to the kitchen and office and searched for Kelsey. He hurried through the kitchen and down the hall, making his way to the office.

When he shouldered into the door and it opened, he glanced around the office, searching through the decorations of fake spiderwebs and pumpkins. He inhaled a sharp breath when he found her, at last. Kelsey was seated at the desk. She’d taken the off the baby blue hat and blonde wig. The blue jacket laid across the desk next to her.

“Kelsey,” he said, on an exhale of breath.

Their eyes met and she stood to her feet and rounded the desk. He entered the room with the intention of telling her everything, starting with how he felt about her. That she very well might be the only person in this world who cared about him. Who loved him in a no-strings-attached sort of way. And that he loved her.

But as he opened his mouth to speak, she advanced toward him, purpose in her walk. When she reached him, she went up on tip toe and cupped his face, her blue eyes darkening with desire, and he couldn’t resist her. The past few weeks the craving for her had been hovering just below the surface, waiting to break free.

As he gripped her hips and yanked her into him, she inhaled a sharp breath. “Don’t talk. Just kiss me,” she whispered like a demand.

When he lowered his mouth to hers, he waited with every ounce of self-control he had left, until at last, she finally gave him release when she kissed him. Her lips parted, opening herself to him and he slipped his tongue inside, exploring and flicking against hers.

She slipped off his hat and ran a hand through his messy hair, driving him wild with her touch and he had to fight to get out of his head that was reminding him he was kissing Kelsey.

From this moment on, they’d never be able to go back to what they were before. They’d crossed that imaginary line they’d drawn years ago, and stepped into whatever this new, fascinating, and sexy undefined relationship was. One that involved kissing.

And he wasn’t complaining.

He backed her up against the desk and gripped her thighs, lifting her up and setting her on top of it in one quick motion. He stepped in between her legs, opening them with his body and his hands glided up her back before his lips moved to her neck, nibbling, and tasting and she giggled. Her hot breath hummed against his ear causing him to shiver.

He had learned something new about her, something he didn’t think was possible all these years later. Her neck was ticklish. If they had never made it to this moment, he still wouldn’t know. And knowing this about her only made the moment shared between them more thrilling. Somehow he was able to stop his lips from exploring, stop his hands from caressing, stop his hips from grinding and he groaned into her neck as she arched into him, before lifting his head to look at her.

“Are you sure?” he panted.

“I’ve never wanted anyone more.”

At her words, his entire body ignited, and he kissed her hard. He kissed her like he meant it. He kissed her like his very life depended on it. As his fingers went to the buttons on the white blouse, undoing each one with purpose, his eye contact never wavered, never leaving hers. He knew those eyes better than anyone else’s. He knew when they were sad, when they were happy, or scared. But this emotion, this lust—he’d never been able to experience it before and it only excited him more.

Kelsey gripped his jacket and yanked it off his shoulders before he slipped his arms out. As she undid the buttons on his dress shirt, he was already tearing hers off. He reached around her back, unhooking her bra, feeling like it was his birthday, and he was unwrapping a gift. After releasing her breasts, he admired the bare, glistening skin. They were as alluring as he remembered from that night at the hotel. Only tonight, he wouldn’t admire them with his eyes alone, he’d touch, lick, and relish them using all his senses.

When her hands went to his belt, working the buckle, his went to her breasts. She sucked in an audible breath as he took one in each of his hands gently, caressing, kneading, taunting. He brought his mouth down against hers and she nipped his lower lip with her teeth causing further excitement to radiate.

She finally had his belt undone, dragging the zipper down slowly and he stepped out of the oversized costume pants. He needed hers off too. Now.

Lifting her off the desk, he set her down. “Off,” he urged.

She undid the baby blue pants agonizingly slow, letting them fall off her hips and pool at her feet on the floor. He admired her with hooded eyes, the usual lust he’d typically feel in this moment with a woman was being overtaken with an adoration and yearning for her. A reminder to take his time with her. To go slow.

Kelsey was special. She deserved a tenderness he planned to give to her. Hopefully over and over. All night long if she let him.

“Don’t even think of going easy on me. It’s been a long time,” her voice growled.

“That’s why I plan to go slow,” he admitted, tempted to graze a thumb across her cheek but knowing she hated having her face touched.

“If you’re looking for some proper woman, I can assure you, I ain’t her. I don’t have patience for slow.” With that, she tethered her hands around his neck and leapt into his arms, wrapping her legs around his torso like a spider monkey. Her words and her actions of taking the initiative set him off. He was in complete overdrive.

Forget slow.

He planted her back on top of the desk and it nearly killed him to release her while he removed a condom from the wallet still shoved in the front pocket of his pants. She kept firm eye contact with him as he tore the package open with his teeth, her eyes glossing over.

When she hooked a finger at him, and he relented, placing the condom in her hand, he almost came completely undone. Or maybe it was when her warm hand gripped the smooth skin of his erection and rolled the rubber on with such gentleness and precision. The details blurred together into one vast, spectacular moment he prayed would never end.
