This was their path.

God.

And it was going to be an adventure.

When Gene saw some commotion from the corner of his eye, he knew what it would be. Apparently, their alone time was over.

He glanced at his watch, and it was heading toward seven. The jig was up, and the reporters were on the prowl, looking for him. They obviously realized he’d not been telling them the truth.

There was no press junket.

“Media,” he whispered, still not breaking contact with his man. “We need to move inside.”

Ethan wished they could make that moment last longer, but he knew his man was right.

“Let’s go.”

Grabbing the cake container that Gene had put on top of the car, they hustled toward the hotel. When they got to the door, three cars had pulled up near them, and reporters were shouting questions.

They.

Ran.

Fast.

Inside, Ethan got the elevator to open, and he and Gene got inside. As the doors closed, they knew these idiots were going to be all over them tomorrow.

There was no way they’d get lucky and shake them again.

Call it a hunch.

As they got out on their floor, Gene pointed at Callen’s door.

“I’ll see if he’s here. Go into the room.”

Ethan kissed him again.

“Don’t be long,” he whispered. “We need to celebrate,” he said, holding up his hand so the gold ring shined in the hallway lights.

Well, that sounded good to him.

As Ethan disappeared into their room, Gene knocked on Callen’s door across from them.

When he didn’t answer, he figured the man was gone. Hopefully, he made the right choices going forward because Gene hated to see him fail.

He was, after all, Ethan’s brother. One day, he’d be his brother-in-law, legally.

When no one came to the door, Gene crossed the hall and unlocked his and Ethan’s door. As soon as he got inside, he saw the most amazing sight.

Ethan had gotten naked so damn fast, and he was in their bed, waiting for him.

PERFECT.

Tossing the cake onto the nightstand, Gene joined him, dropping his clothing, taking off the body armor, and toeing off his shoes.

Then, he dove into that bed so fast.

Yeah, he wasn’t a fool.
