“Do you ever wonder how we ended up here? After everything?”

“Every day.”

“And?”

“And I thank whatever twist of fate brought you back.”

She stopped walking. “You think it was fate?”

I stepped in closer, brushing hair from her cheek. “I think it was you being brave. I think it was me finally learning how to wait.” She kissed me then, slow and sure. And when she pulled back, her eyes were shining. “Take me home, Greyson.” And God help me, I hoped she meant it in every way.

Chapter 28

Blair

His hand never left mine on the drive back.

We didn’t speak. We didn’t need to. The silence between us hummed with everything we hadn’t said but had already agreed on.

When we pulled into his driveway, Greyson killed the engine and looked at me.

“This okay?”

The question wasn’t about the house. It was about us.

“Yes,” I whispered. “Take me inside.”

The front door closed behind us, and before I could blink, his hands were on my waist, pulling me in like he’d been waiting years to touch me like this. Maybe he had. Perhaps I had too.

He kissed me against the wall, deep and sure, and I melted into him.

His mouth moved from my lips to my jaw, to my neck, his breath hot as he whispered, “You taste like honey and something I’ve missed my whole damn life.”

I reached for the hem of his shirt, yanking it over his head. He was warm and solid and a little scruffy, heaven.

“Bedroom,” I murmured.

He didn’t make me say it twice.

We tumbled onto his sheets, breathless, laughing, wild with want. The laughter faded quickly, replaced by the kind of quietthat only comes when you’re completely naked, not just in body, but in trust.

Greyson was everywhere, his hands, mouth, and voice coaxing my name like a promise.

“Tell me what you need,” he whispered.

“You.”

He paused, brushing his fingers down my thigh. “No walls?”

“No walls.”

His eyes locked with mine. “I love you, Bee.”

The sound of it undid me.

I kissed him like it was the last time, the only time. He touched me like I was a miracle, like he couldn’t believe I was real. And when he finally slid into me, slow and deep, my breath hitched, and everything else fell away.

There were no ghosts in that room. No past. No fear. Just him. Just me.
