“We could stay.”

I swallow hard and lick my lips. His eyes track the movement and the next thing I know he’s lifted me into his arms. My legs wrap around his waist and he grinds into me, his hard length pressed tight against my center. “I need to be inside you,” he murmurs against my mouth.

“We…” I gasp. “Can’t do that…here.” I can’t catch my breath. His kisses are drugging, stealing the air inside my lungs. He nips at my chin, my jawline, my neck.

“I’ll come over after patrols. Things are settling down with my brother in town.”

I arch against him as his words make their way through a haze of desire. Come over? Today? Brother?Shit.

I pull away and drop my feet back to the ground. Jordy scowls and reluctantly lets me stand. “Your brother is in town?” I wrack my brain for any earlier mention of him. I know he has two. And a little sister. I haven’t met them yet, but I assumed they all lived here. That they are all members of the Southwest Pack.

“Yeah. My oldest brother just came home. He tried things out with a different Pack, but he’s back for good now that...” he trails off.

“Now that what?”

He takes a deep breath and steels himself. “My dad died.”

“Oh, my God.” My hand flies up to cover my mouth before I rush to hug him. “I’m so sorry,” I murmur against his chest.

Jordy pulls away and looks down at me, a strange look on his face. “He was an old bastard on the verge of going rogue who liked to hit his kids. Don’t be sorry he’s gone. I’m not.”

Oh, I had no idea. “Are you…”

He rubs the back of his neck. “I’m good. Really. I don’t want to talk about him, though. What I want is,” he kisses me again, “to fuck you, preferably in a bed, but I’ll settle for a desk.”

I groan against his mouth. “We are not having sex at school. Someone could come in.”

“Fine. Your place tonight.”

When I don’t answer, Jordy leans back, holding me at arm’s length. “Unless you don’t want me to come?”

I shake my head. “It’s not that…” How do I explain?

“Then what is it?” There’s a bite in his tone.

I take a deep breath and decide to rip off the bandage. “I moved out.” There, I said it.

“When?”

“Earlier this week. Mom is diving deeper and deeper into vampire politics trying to save Diego. She’s even invited them inside.” I shrug.

He steps back and folds his arms over his chest. “And you weren’t going to tell me?”

“It’s not that I wasn’t. I mean, I knew I had to tell you eventually, just…”

He taps his foot. “Our son was at risk. He—”

“No.” I shake my head. “I moved out before she invited anyone in. I knew it was coming. I had a heads up.”

“Where are you living?”

I look down at the ground. “I moved in with Jae?” It comes out like a question even though it isn’t. I chance a glance up and as expected, his face is red and steam is practically coming out of his ears.

“Jae? The guy who would fuck you in a heartbeat, Jae?”

“We’re just friends.”

He shakes his head and backs away from me. “Are you fucking kidding me right now?”
