“You feel both high and at peace,” Ransom says. I guess he’s feeling more than we thought he would, even without the bite.

Maybe it’ll keep him from really fucking up. Turning until my ass hits the ground, I lean back into Wilder’s body, my head laying on his thigh. We’re both out to Ransom, there’s no reason to pretend we aren’t together.

Wilder plays with my hair as my eyelids get heavy, and Random doesn’t seem disgusted. Instead, I see moments of heat flooding his gaze, but it’s hard to be sure. I was wrong earlier, I’m definitely getting more high as time goes on.

“I guess I didn’t realize I needed a bite from my alpha,” I mumble. “We try not to flaunt our relationship, but you’re in our house.”

“Please, by all means, flaunt it here. I don’t care,” he says. “It’s even better if I get to watch you fuck each other while I stroke my dick. What does Marie think about this?”

“Marie? She knows we’re together,” Wilder says sleepily.

We’re all about to crash or need to order delivery. There’s no real in between.

“It doesn’t bother her?” Ransom asks.

“Why would it bother me?” Marie asks, making me sit up quickly.

“You’re awake,” I mumble. “Come snuggle me.”

“You’re so high,” she grins, dropping into my lap gracefully. Lore’s sweatshirt is practically a dress on her. Noticing that I’m playing with the hem, she says, “I want to bring one of his sweatshirts to sleep in. I sleep better that way.”

“Why are you awake then?” Ransom asks her.

He pinches the end of the roach since it’s pretty much dead, and Marie buries herself against my chest. As I rub her legs, I notice she feels warm, and I worry that she may be getting sick. Riding on the back of a motorcycle is going to fucking suck if she’s getting a cold.

“Don’t know,” Marie lies.

“Are you feeling okay?” I whisper. I want her to tell me the truth, and I’ll gladly kick Ransom out if necessary.

“Lying isn’t very nice,” Ransom purrs.

“Shush,” Wilder mutters.

This night is absolutely surreal, but what else are you supposed to do when you bury one of the most important people in your life?

If I try really hard and close my eyes, I can almost hear Lore in Devon’s voice. It’s a pathetic trick, and unhealthy as fuck. I doubt I’ll stop doing it since we’re headed to his clubhouse tomorrow. It’ll just feed the unhealthy coping habit.

“I feel as if I’m burning up, but I don’t have a fever,” Marie admits. “I’m having dreams of fucking you and Lore, but sometimes it’ll change to the four of you fucking me.”

“I’m in this dream?” Ransom asks.

Wilder, Marie, and I ignore him. I begin to play with my omega’s hair, trying to draw her further into the conversation I’m having with her. Ransom can kindly excuse himself if he’s going to fuck with her.

I guess he can feel the unhappy emotions through our bonds, so he presses his lips together to keep his words locked behind them. I guess he can learn.

“Sex dreams and feeling overheated,” I muse. “It’s not your heat, is it? I know you’re on meds for it, but extreme emotions can mess with that. You’re also surrounded by your alphas and heat suppressants aren’t foolproof.”

Ransom makes an unhappy growl, but we continue to ignore him. He doesn’t know why she’s on them, and I’m not in a hurry for him to find out our history.

“I’m aroused but not slicking like I normally would during my heat,” she rasps. “I’m also kind of uncomfortable, but I’m not cramping yet. It’s complicated. Maybe it’s a breakthrough heat flash. I pulled up those symptoms on my phone before I came down, and they happen often for those taking heat suppressants.”

“Do you want to stop taking them?” I ask.

There’s no way she knows that I switched out her heat suppressants weeks ago.

“I don’t know,” she whimpers. “Could it make things worse?”

“No,” Wilder says. “If you’re going to have your heat, we’re here to help you through it.”
