Kitten:Made it safe ♥?

Nick replied with a simple:good, but didn’t hear more. Even after texting a few times, he heard nothing. So now, damn it, he was going to call.

“He’s probably sleeping, you know…”

Even so, Nick didn’t end the call, he just walked away from his friends so they couldn’t pester him.

Reece answered after several rings, with no words, just a quiet, “Hm?”

“Kitten…”

“Nicky?” Reece slurred, but sounded less asleep. It wasn’t early there but Reece’s sleep schedule was all over the place and Nick had the sudden urge to see him, so he switched the call to video, and snorted when Reece came into view, one eye closed, the other one barely peeping, his hair in complete disarray. There was drool in the corner of his mouth. It was dark aside from the light from Reece’s phone, until he finally wiggled around to turn a lamp on, and Nick immediately recognized his bed. His dark sheets, which Reece slipped right back under and pulled up to his nose.

“The hell’re you doin’, huh?” Nick asked softly, unable to fight his own smile. He didn’t expect Reece to go straight to his place. To his bed. He didn’t understand why it pleased him so much either.

“Sleepin’—whatboutyou?”

“Quick snack break. Got a game soon, but… I was just checking on you.”

“Nicky… hmmmm… Thank you. Just so sleepy.”

“That’s alright. Go back to keeping my bed warm. Sleep good.”

Reece’s eyes were closed, but his smile was wide as he pulled the cover down and hugged the phone to his chest, making it go dark.

“Night, Nicky.”

Chapter 23 - Reece

Reece woke up clinging to his phone and slowly realized that Nick had called him, and it hadn’t been a dream. And he knew that Reece was in his bed.

He was fanning his hot cheeks on his way out of the bedroom, following the smell of something buttery. Pancakes, he learned as he walked into the kitchen and found Kent by the stove.

“Good morning, Kenny,” Reece said, arms outstretched as he padded over and Kent turned to meet him with a warm embrace.

“Welcome home, Reece. Have you spoken to Nick? He was worried about you…”

“He called when I was sleeping. We only talked for a minute, so I’ll call him now. I was so tired, I don’t remember much of the conversation…”

“As long as you spoke with him and he knows you’re okay.”

“Oh, don’t worry. Nicky doesn’t worry nearly as much as you, silly.”

“I beg to differ,” Kent grumbled under his breath, low, but not enough for Reece not to hear. Even if he didn’t understand. “Breakfast will be ready soon, just have a seat.”

“Okay.” Reece hugged him again and then went to his usual seat before video calling Nick.

He answered on the second ring. Dripping sweat with a white towel around his neck that made his skin seem even darker. He was so hot that Reece was damn near melting in his seat instantly.

“Good morning, Nicky!” Reece beamed. “I’m sorry about earlier, I was barely awake…”

Sweat dripped from Nick’s brow. His nose. His chin. “I know. Didn’t mean to wake you up.”

“That’s okay, don’t worry. Wake me up anytime. You had a game?”

“You really were asleep, huh?”
