“I don’t believe you.”
“I can go over a month without needing to stabilize the life-bond, Shiloh.”
“Didn’t seem that way.”
“I was injured these past couple of weeks, that’s why. If it’s bad enough to be life threatening, having my partner physically present helps speed up the process.”
“So you need to keep me close in case you’re hurt.” He nodded. “Noted.”
“You’re twisting my words.”
“You’ve made it very easy for me to do so.”
“Shiloh—”
“Enough, Rang. I think some time apart will do us both good.” He placed his hand over the doorknob. “Stay here and be a good alpha for me, won’t you?”
“Shiloh, damn it!” He pulled against his chains, but it was no use.
The omega turned his back on him and walked out.
Chapter 13:
“Prince.” Bishop greeted Shiloh in the lobby of the hotel, quickly turning to keep step with him as he exited the building and entered the parking garage.
Sadly, on level one.
Shiloh would have liked to see the blood stain again.
The door locked behind them, the satisfying click and buzz causing him to sigh contentedly as he made his way toward the parked hoverbike. The sleek black motorcycle with cerulean blue detailing had been kept locked away in order to help maintain his innocent appearance, but now that Sarang was secured and the cat was out of the bag…
“I missed you, baby.” Shiloh ran his hand across the smooth exterior and let out a low whistle.
“You’re in a good mood,” Bishop noted.
“What’s there to be mad about?”
“Forgive me, but the underboss was keeping things from you. His secret isn’t a small matter either. You were angry before.”
Shiloh trusted his Lefthand explicitly—and had needed his help researching Grays and Gray specific life-bonds—so had read him into the issue immediately. It wasn’t surprising that Bishop was upset on his behalf, though his irritation was misplaced.
There was still much they didn’t know, but they were working on uncovering more. He doubted Sarang was going to be forthcoming and answer his questions honestly, so researching on their own was their best bet. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much out there about the Gray, years of being hunted and used for their healing abilities having driven them into relative secrecy.
They’d also been unable to find anything about a specific bond formed between a Gray and a Syn—or anything like an alpha or omega.
Learning that Sarang viewed their bond as a mistake…
“It’s not exactly like I’ve been honest with him,” Shiloh reminded.
“That’s different. You’re the prince.”
He grunted and straddled the bike in one swift movement, taking the offered helmet when it was held out to him, though he didn’t start the vehicle right away. Instead, he settled the helmet in his lap and met Bishop’s gaze.
“Right from the start, I assumed the main reason Sarang agreed to follow me to the Eumia was for coin. He desperately needed the money, and I took advantage of that. I have no qualms about exploiting people’s weaknesses.” He grinned. “This life-bond? It’s the biggest weakness of all, wouldn’t you agree?”
Sarang literally needed Shiloh in order tosurvive.
Hot.
