“Who was that man?”She asked through teeth that chattered.“Why did he want to take over the North tribe?”
Instead of answering her questions, he tightened his arms around her back.“It doesn’t matter.He was a crazy delusional paranormal who will never bother us again.”
Opening her eyes, Summer looked up at the man she’d come to love with her entire being.“Fenrir?”
“Yes, sweets?”
“You’re still naked.”
Fenrir chuckled as he released her and stepped back, reaching for the clothes that Liam offered.In a blur of pale and black, he dressed before returning to her side.“Better?”
“Yes, thank you.Can we go home now?I’m hungry and want my mate to claim me properly so this won’t happen again.”
She smiled when Fenrir brushed a kiss on the top of her head before he murmured, “As you wish,Drottning minn.”

When he swept his mateup and rested her on his hips, she wrapped her arms and legs around him and dropped her head to his shoulder.
“Rest, sweet mate.We’ll be home soon,” he murmured before dropping a kiss on her temple.
The four guards took their positions around them and they began to move through the city fast enough that Fenrir knew that even the cameras that were meant to capture everything that happened on the streets would only see them pass by as a black blur.By the time they returned to the sidewalk platform in front of the North building, and descended into the basement, Summer had stopped trembling.
But her stomach was now growling, causing her to giggle in reaction.Once they’d crossed the storage room and they were in the elevator, Fenrir set her on her feet, but kept one arm around her, holding her tight to his side.
“I’ll arrange to have food delivered to the penthouse,” Liam said when the elevator stopped at the floor that housed the security team offices.The four guards stepped out.
“Thank you,” Summer called after them.
Fenrir punched the button for the penthouse before holding his thumb over the access reader.The four men faced the elevator and bowed with their right hands held over their hearts.
“Those are some good men you have there,” she murmured, leaning into his chest as the elevator began moving up again.
“They are the best, which is why they are our personal guard,” Fenrir said as he hugged her close.“Did he hurt you?”
“Other than drugging me with some kind of wild paralytic and scaring the shit out of me, he didn’t hurt me.From what I could tell, the drug he gave me didn’t last as long as it was supposed to.I shocked him by grabbing the knife off his altar and attacking him with it.Who was he, anyway?”
“Amos.”
“Amos, that smarmy assistant asshole who didn’t seem to like me?”
“That’s the one.He’d decided that if he and the handful of vampires he’d turned over the past few months could fuck you and then kill you, it would also kill me, and he’d take over the tribe.He thought we’d already finalized our mating and that our life forces were wound together.And maybe if we had, his plan would have killed me.Thankfully, I am mating a warrior woman who would have made an excellent Viking, if she’d lived a thousand years ago.”
Summer smirked at him as he guided her through the living room to the bedroom and then straight into the bathroom.“And who is that fierce warrior woman?Anyone I know?”
“Yes, my love, it is definitely someone you know.”
Fenrir reached into the shower and started the water before he began stripping her of her clothes.He brushed kisses over her skin as it was revealed.Once she was naked, he quickly shed his clothes and then carried her into the shower.
Though he’d originally planned to give her until the end of hibernation before he fully claimed her as his life mate, after the events of this evening, there was no way he could hold off that long.
After washing them both, he held her under the falling water and looked deep into her eyes.“Do you, Summer Marie Donovan, take me as your mate and other half from now until the end of life as we know it?To share your blood, your body, your heart and your soul with me until our last breaths?To stay by my side, living, loving, fighting through all eternity?”
He held his breath until she grinned up at him.“I do.I do.I do.I love you, Fenrir.From now until the end of time and beyond.”
“Oh, thank the gods.I love you, my mate.You are the light to my darkness, and I will gladly battle the world at your side just to see your beautiful smile each morning.”
“Mate me, my king.Fuck me and feed from me and build the circle of life between us,” Summer said with a sassy wink.
