I smile, knowing how fucking hard this is for her. “I know, baby.”
She huffs, annoyed and exasperated at having to face what’s right in front of her, and she pointedly looks away, unable to handle whatshe’s refused to say aloud. “Whatever,” she mutters under her breath. “I love you too. It’s not a big deal, so shut up about it.”
A grin splits across my face before I can stop it, and as the bullets continue to rain down around us, I grab her by the waist and yank her into me, crashing my mouth against hers like a starved man, desperate for only her.
Kiara kisses me back, her body melting against mine, and as her hand curls around the back of my neck, the world no longer matters. She’s right here where she belongs, choosing me just as I chose her the moment I laid eyes on her. Because despite it all, despite the war that’s brewing around us, we’re still fucking breathing.
“Alright, Firecracker,” I murmur, pulling back just enough to meet her eyes, and feel that intense adrenaline burning through both of us. “Let’s get this done. Take out this fucker so I can pull over and slide inside of you. These past two weeks have been fucking torture, and I don’t intend on waiting a second longer than necessary.”
CHAPTER 26
KIARA
Hold the fuck up.
If I knew wild car sex was on the table, I would have finished off these assholes in the SUVs ages ago, but I’ve just been taking my time, enjoying the retribution. Screw this. Hell, screw finishing them off before getting what I want.
Tossing the handgun into the center console, I immediately climb across the front of the car and into Raiden’s lap, not stopping until I’m straddling him. “Firecracker,” he warns as he races down the dirt road in the dead of night, one hand on the steering wheel, the other already gripping my ass.
I shake my head, not interested in his warning. “I’ve waited two weeks for this,” I tell him, grinding my pussy against him, feeling the way he hardens beneath me. “You have two choices. We can either playassassin and focus on the asshole in the SUV, or you can strip me bare and fuck me raw until I’m coming on that thick cock. Now, I don’t know about you, but one of these options sounds incredibly appealing to me.”
Raiden groans, and before the sound has even fully tumbled from his lips, his other hand is gripping the back of my neck and pulling me in, crushing my lips to his as he stomps on the brakes, bringing the car to a dead stop in the middle of the road.
My hips rock against him, already so worked up, and as I reach for his shirt and start tugging it over his head, only before I can get rid of it, the last SUV slams into the back left of our car, sending us into a wild spin, but we’re both braced for it, having seen it coming a mile away.
Then, as the car madly whips around, Raiden pulls back from my kiss for just a second before reaching for the gun I’d tossed in the center console. Our bodies whip around, and just as the car turns, Raiden lifts the gun, and in a flash, squeezes the trigger and lets off the perfect shot, directly through our shattered back windshield, through the window of the SUV, and straight between the eyes of the driver.
The SUV swerves, diving to the right-hand side of the road and hitting a large boulder that sends it flying up into the air and crashing back down with incredible force. It tumbles hood-over-trunk six times before coming to a fiery stop, all while our car continues spinning off the edge of the road.
We hit a ditch, and the momentum tips the car, rolling us overthrough the desert, every side of it caving in on us with the impact. Raiden holds on to me, his arm braced so securely around my waist that I don’t move even an inch.
The car comes to a stop, flat on its four tires, and I let out a breath—only to suck in a new one as the engine ignites. “Fuck,” I groan, having had every intention to still fuck him right here in the totaled car.
“Shit, Firecracker. You good?”
“Yeah,” I say, already searching for a way out. All four doors are useless, and while the windshield is smashed and easy to climb through, we’d have to crawl through the flames just to get our feet on the ground.
Which leaves only the shattered sunroof that’s mostly caved in over us, or the back windshield. It’s not on fire, but getting through to it past the destroyed back seat is going to be a mission.
Sunroof, it is.
The space beneath the steering wheel is limited, and I’m surprised Raiden’s knees are still intact, but getting him out shouldn’t be an issue.
With that in mind, I get a move on, reaching up and locking my fingers around the frame of the sunroof before starting to pull myself up.
“Whoa. Where the fuck do you think you’re going?” Raiden questions. “You started something here, and we’re not leaving until you finish it.”
I settle back onto his lap, holding his stare, my brows furrowed. “Not sure if you’ve realized this, but the car is on fire.”
A devilish smirk stretches across his lips. “And it’ll still be on fire when we’re done,” he tells me, his hand gliding up my spine and bracing around the back of my neck, holding my stare. “You’re not afraid of a little heat, are you, Firecracker?”
Fuck, this man knows how to pull my strings just right.
There is a real possibility that the car will explode, that the fire will take hold of the upholstery and send us both up in a screaming ball of flames. Or hell, even something from our bags of weapons could detonate. Actually, it’s almost a fucking guarantee, but do you see me moving? Hell no.
I grin back at him. “You’d think by this point in our . . .relationship, you’d have figured out the risks involved with challenging me,” I tell him, reaching down between us and curling my fingers around his belt as the fire rages at my back, sweat already beading on our skin. “I’m not afraid of the heat, Raiden. The real question is whetheryoucan handle it?”
A wicked chuckle sounds through the burning car. “Firecracker, I can’t just handle the heat, Iamthe fucking heat.”
