“This shit goes to the job site at the east side of town. The same job site you just dropped half the shit off at, but decided to waste all our time bringing the remaining here.”

“What’s going on?”

“What’s going on it my five-year-old son could do a better fucking job at keeping this shit straighter than these dumbasses do. How fucking hard is it? One load, and it all goes to one fucking place. One place, Aaron. Jesus fuck!” He throws his hands up in the air and takes a walk to cool down. I swear he hasfire shooting out of his ears. Living with Adley has really got him wired to snap.

I chuckle as he starts rambling out walking toward the other side of the warehouse.

“Give me your boss’s number,” I say, turning back to the asshole still sitting up in his truck.

“He’s off today.”

“Okay then I guess I’ll call your boss’s boss.” I pull out my phone and the guy’s eyes widen.

“No wait,” he interrupts me and I pause. “The manifest says two deliveries, so it’s fucked up. But just tell me where it goes and I’ll get it there.”

“The apartment complex on Western.” He nods. “It all goes there.”

I step back and wait as he backs out the truck and turns onto the main road. A few minutes later Rory rejoins me and I watch him. He’s wound so tight I swear he’s on the verge of snapping.

“Want to share?”

“Adley cut me off,” he says through gritted teeth. “She says if we withhold sex it will mean more when we get married.”

“When are you getting married?” I ask, not remembering hearing anything about an engagement.

“We aren’t even engaged,” he says and his face gets red. “It could be months before I get any and she’s taunting me walking around wearing little to nothing. It’s torture and I feel like I’m hanging on by my fingertips. I’ve taking up axe throwing.”

“What?” I laugh.

“I have to do something to relieve the tension. I swear I might kill her.”

“Or you’ll kill each other.”

“Yes,” he nods, “that.”

He says nothing more before spinning on his heels and walking back to his truck still idling a few feet away.

I grab my phone and dial Kendall’s phone number and wait for her to answer.

“No we are not having beer or pizza and you cannot spend the night again.”

“You know your body is still humming from our little sleepover.”

“You really like to build yourself up don’t you.”

“Babe I don’t have to build myself up, your body tells me all the things you won’t.”

“What do you want?” she asks, completely ignoring my comment.

“Talk to your friend, she seems to be torturing Rory and I think his head is about to explode.”

“Please the two of them are always torturing one another.” I picture her rolling her eyes.

“Yeah, but she’s holding back until they get married.”

“Excuse me?”

“Exactly.” I chuckle. “Just help the guy out and instead of me coming over to your place I think you should come over to mine, sevenish.”
