“Your grandmother told you that?” I’ve met the woman. She’s the classic Italian grandma. There’s no way I can imagine her saying that.
“She sure did. Told me to make sure I could get myself off before I ever give it to a man, so I’d know what I enjoy.”
My jaw drops. Wow. “And you’re only just telling me this now?” I say.
“You never needed to hear it before. She also said to let an experienced man take my virginity, so he’d know how to give me pleasure. You’re welcome again. Andrew will know how to find your clit.”
“I can’t believe we’re even talking about this with him just down the hall. Fuck. What if he has cameras in here?”
“His bedroom? Kinky, but I doubt it. My work here is done. A couple of orgasms and you’ll sleep like a baby; you can thank me in the morning. And you’d better call me tomorrow and let me know what’s going on. Or text me, at least.”
“I will, and, Cheri, thank you for talking me off the ledge. I’m so far out of my comfort zone here.”
“Besties till the end. And if I need to show up with a shovel and my brothers, let me know. Night.”
“Night.”
The battery is almost dead, so I grab the charger from my purse. Once I plug in my phone and make sure it’s charging, I search my suitcase and find the vibrator. Shit. Can I really do this in his bed? I look to the door and shrug. Cheri’s right, coming should take the edge off. Hopefully. Maybe.

After I almost kissed Jaclyn, I couldn’t get away fast enough. Not because kissing her would be wrong, but I need to know she’s not complicit in what’s happening at JNG. At least, that’s what I tell myself as I pace in front of the couch.
Muted sounds through the bedroom door drag me down the hallway. Her giggles make me smile, at first. The need to know who she’s talking to wipes it from my face, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. Is she talking to a man? A boyfriend?
I run my hands through my shoulder-length hair and head back to the main room to resume my pacing. The need to know burns in my chest. Jealousy I have no right to feel—not until she agrees to be mine, which she will—makes me want to punch the wall.
With a sigh, I grab my phone off the coffee table and send a text to Adrian. I should have looped him in from the very beginning, then I’d have more information on her, but better late than never.
Me: Get me a full workup on Jaclyn Tanner. I need to know everything.
Adrian: Already in progress. Did you think I’d let my brother fall for a woman we know nothing about?
Me: Who says I’m falling? I need her personnel file too. We must have done at least a cursory check before hiring her.
Adrian: Yes, but what I don’t get is why you didn’t pull that first. You’re sliding, big bro.
Me: Yeah, I know. I fucked up. I was more concerned about what was going on than who’d contacted me. A mistake I won’t make again.
Adrian: I’m sure you won’t. Hopefully this one doesn’t bite us on the ass.
Me: Truth. What does her file say?
Adrian: Read it yourself. I sent it after dinner. You need to check your email more often.
Me: Fuck you.
Adrian: No, thank you. I’m not into incest or men, but if you’re offering up our little lawyer…
Me: No way in hell.
Adrian: Got it. But you’re not falling for her? I’ll let you know when I hear back from my hacker.
Me: Whatever, asshole. For now, keep this between us.
Adrian: Even Aaron?
